I’ve seen VERY few African-American women on food stamps who couldn’t stand to lose 25-100 lbs.

Think of the reduction as a health incentive.

...many people wonder how Americans will finally be able to climb out of poverty.

Pssst. Don't tell anyone but they aren't climbing no where. Climbing takes work and they're happy right where they are.

Funny. Just last night some mexiclown who dressed like she came from the office used her EBT card to hold up the line because she was bitching about the “free” paper bags in CA only for EBT users while the other paying chumps had to pay 10 cents...and she still argued for 5 more minutes.

The program provides monetary help for families in poverty and alleviates food insecurity. SNAP, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, is used by approximately 47 million Americans.

poverty and hunger are mostly a choice in this country. Local resources such as food banks, churches, and civic groups are always looking for hungry people to feed.

Food stamps are enabling people to be drug addicted, lazy, or just generally dysfunctional.

I know that they say that it's for the kids, but the kids get left out anyway because the parents probably don't know how to cook or prefer to pick up a happy meal for the kids, because the parents are so "busy".

If you know where to look, you can purchase the food stamp cards in many grocery store parking lots or on a side street near a liquor store.

Drug testing for all parasites...no exceptions.

Extra food stamps for ratting out drug-dealers living with their gimme-girl friends.

Let them eat dope.

Approximately one in four African-American households will be affected by the cuts in the SNAP program.

Only 25%? Sounds like Great Leader isn't down with the struggle.

“Food assistance creates a healthier environment and helps many families climb out of poverty.”

No it doesn’t and welfare helps no one climb out of poverty, at least the way it is implemented. If you had a system where people had to work for their benefits, it would be different...

Nobody should be “starving.” Food stamps or EBT cards aren't the only programs for the so-called “poor.” There are people receiving benefits from numerous federal, state and local sources, not to mention charitable endeavors such as food banks and food pantries.

This is all baloney. Typical Dem tactic — manufacture a “crisis” or create a “wrong,” then create or expand a government program to fix the phony problem.

But with funding reductions and bans for convicted felons many people wonder how Americans will finally be able to climb out of poverty.

Pardon me for being blunt. They've been trying to "climb out of poverty" for years. Few have made it.

This has nothing to do with the government teat. It has to do with self sense of worth, personal initiative, drive, and busting ass to get it done. It has been my observation that people who have these qualities have no need for food stamps, section 8 housing, FI, SSI, etc.

I live just outside Louisville ,Ky So I get all of the local television channels on my cable and every day I see commercials from a grocery store named First Link Discount Foods in every ad they say spend $50 in groceries and get back $5 in cash even with Food Stamp purchases. I have been seeing that commercial for two or three years now. They are located downtown just across from Gubmint housing projects and rake in the food stamps.

There are so many disincentives to get off of food stamps; that magic $19,100 income level (or there abouts) means almost full benefits up to that limit, and absolutely none right beyond it. Add to that the cash bonanza of the Earned Income Tax Credit, and all our ‘helping’ the poor is locking them into being poor.

So here’s what’s happening-A young black couple are shacking up with children. Both get foodstamps plus welfare. The guy sells the foodstamps.

Sadly I know people doing this.

I can’t feel that sad that single people are making babies knowing they get foodstamps.
Oh but they have flat screen tvs, cable and go to the hair & nail salon on a regular basis.

It seems there are more families climbing into poverty right now than families climbing out of it. Feeding all of them forever is an unrealistic goal. A better solution is to get out of the Obamaconomy, and our national failure.
