Ted Cruz to join Donald Trump, Michele Bachmann at New Orleans Republican Leadership Conference

New Orleans will once again draw the who's who among GOP policymakers, pundits and politicians this year, when it plays host to the 2014 Republican Leadership Conference, or RLC. While U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, joined the playbill Tuesday (Feb. 4) morning, attendees can also expect to see a slew of other conservative leaders including Donald Trump, U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn. and maybe even the cast of Duck Dynasty.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal was not yet a confirmed attendee, as per the RLC's speakers list. But another Pelican State Republican, recent GOP-convert and candidate for lieutenant governor state Sen. Elbert Guillory of Opelousas, will be in attendance.

Other confirmed speakers include former presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, U.S. Sen. Mike Lee of Utah and Col. Allen West. Unconfirmed, but invited, guests include Rush Limbaugh, U.S. Reps. Rand Paul and Paul Ryan, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Fox News pundit Greg Gutfeld.

The meeting will take place mostly at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside on May 29-31, 2014. The annual event is perhaps best known for its presidential straw poll. Ron Paul won the RLC's 2011 poll, garnering more than 200 votes over second place finisher former Utah Gov. John Huntsman. Bachmann third with 191 votes.

Rush’s rant on why the Republicans are so dead set on shooting themselves in the foot over the “Tea Party” was right on. The “Madness of King George” was nothing compared to the madness of the RNC! Its as if there is some sort of impenetrable sound wall between D.C. and the rest of the country.

We will find a way to breach the "cone of silence". The degree of unpleasantness involved is entirely up to the people inside the Beltway.

Trump is a capitalist that would make Daddy Warbucks proud. After Katrina he offered to rebuild New Orleans—They should have taken him up on that. I think he would be a perfect Governor of New York-—or even a VP. We need a solid business man to lead a recovery back—now would he line his own pockets? Maybe, but a rising tide lifts all boats. I would rather him get richer than some race hussler. Besides, he would be entertaining.
