WASHINGTON - Sen. Ted Cruz's disdain for President Obama's policies is no less ardent than his advocacy of the 10th Amendment - the one protecting states' rights.
On Tuesday, he's releasing a six-page report on "The Obama Administration's Assault on Texas," highlighting some of the legal friction points between the state and federal government and warning that Obama has sought to expand federal power at the expense of states, especially Texas.
This isn't a scholarly legal analysis, though Cruz - a former law clerk to a chief justice of the United States - is certainly capable of that. Rather it's more of a political indictment and set of talking points for anyone primed to be riled at Washington overreach, as Cruz fans tend to be.
It decries the "expansive view of federal power in litigation against the State of Texas," focusing on 10 cases that "show a consistent pattern of an Administration bent on displacing State sovereignty."
Among the outrages Cruz highlights was the attempt to force states to expand Medicaid under Obamacare; the Supreme Court tossed out that element of the health care law 7-2.
Cruz also cites the Justice Department's "unconstitutional preclearance of Texas's redistricting plans." That requires something of a chronological leap of faith, in that the Justice Department had been challenging election changes in Texas and eight other states for decades under the authority of the Voting Rights Act. That didn't change last June, when the Supreme Court tossed out a key part of the law - the formula that singled out states deserving of extra scrutiny based on a history of systematic bias.
Four of the 10 cases Cruz cites involve the EPA.

Ted Cruz Ping!
If you want on/off this ping list, please let me know.
Please beware, this is a high-volume ping list!
After a full five years of Obamanation, it is time to stop using the following surprise words when describing Obamas words, actions and inactions:
* Beyond Belief
* Unbelievable
* Surprising
* Incredible
* Astounding
* Shocking
* Unexpected
* Unprecedented
* Obama cant do that
* Obama is oblivious to critics
* Obama is unaware of facts
* Obama ignores the Constitution
We know that Obama always does the opposite of what he says that he is going to do.
We know that Obama always states a lie at the start of each paragraph of a speech or comment.
We know that thanks to gullible RINOs Boehner and McConnell, Obama has been very successful in Fundamentally transforming the United States of America into a Neo-Communist Nation.
To continue to be surprised at what Commie Obama does and doesnt do is to prove to ourselves that we are gullible, low information voters that havent learned a damn thing about the evils of the very predictable Communist Obamanation that has been killing our Republic for the last 5 Years.
Call Obama a lier when he lies, and hold Obama accountable for all of his words, actions and inactions.
But Cruz won’t take this to its next logical step...the Lone Star State becoming a republic once again. Too many beg today’s King George III to be kind, a pitiful request that’s met with utter contempt.
.......just someone like Cruz or Perry even talking about it seriously, or posting some serious legislation, would, whether it ever became law or not, fire the proverbial shot across the bow of liberalism.....
I'll vote for Ted!!! Someone has to tell the truth for the truth is so lacking from those in power.
That next logical step has to be discussed very quietly, with but a few men... at first.
Bo Derek and Amendment number 10 are two tens I can live with.
I would just like a governor that tells the feds...NO!
Push back. Tell’em if they come into the state pushing an agenda...they will be arrested.
I can dream can’t I?
“indictment of Obama”
What a beautiful phrase.
You noticed zero went to Wisconsin first thing after the SOTU to rally his base that Walker has benefited through his reforms?
The Walker model is the RATS’ mortal wound... proof that conservative principles create the best prosperity and soundness.
“I would just like a governor that tells the feds...NO!
Push back. Tellem if they come into the state pushing an agenda...they will be arrested.”
That is what Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott told the feds when they were coming to Texas to go inside voting precincts. Abbott said they would be arrested if they did that. He also said he would arrest feds once they stepped onto Texas ground if they were coming here to take our guns.
As a bit of humor, Abbott said he goes to work, sues the federal government, then goes home at the end of the day.
Abbott’s got my vote.
A model for other states to follow.
The regulations are killing our economy behind the scenes.
I love Abbott.
I'm with you.
Time to END the TALK and follow through with some ACTION... INDICT the SOB and his henchmen.
Probably not since Governor "Alfalfa" Bill Murry of Oklahoma has a governor threatened to call out their National Guard to defy the Feebs.
If things get worse—the un-thinkable may be the last thing we can try—session and a new CSA (Constutional States of America) States can join Texas and for a new union. What would it take?
1. Obama cancelling the elections.
2. Obama overturning by decree the consitution.
3. Obama running for an illegal 3rd term.
4. Suspending habius Corpus.
5. Obama dismissing congress.
