Conservative group pushes to topple GOP leaders in Congress

A conservative group is launching a new campaign which calls on "the GOP leadership in both the House and the Senate to step aside."

ForAmerica told CNN that it's putting six figures behind its "Dump the Leadership" campaign between now and November's leadership elections.

The group says that its digital ads will target House Speaker John Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, as well as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Minority Whip John Cornyn, and the group adds that the first paid spots are now up online.

"Time and again, year after year, the Republican leadership in the House and Senate has come to grassroots conservatives, and Tea Party supporters pleading for our money, our volunteers, our time, our energy and our votes," said ForAmerica Chairman Brent Bozell in a statement to CNN. "In return they have repeatedly promised not just to stop the liberal assault on our freedoms and our national treasury, but to advance our conservative agenda. It's been years. There is not a single conservative accomplishment this so-called 'leadership' can point to."

If there’s one thing I’ve always hated, ever since my days in local politics, it is the way they push their duplicitous snout into our causes under a phoney name. There oughta be a law: Impersonation of a Real Organization. Political Identity Theft. Or for short: Anti-Plant.

With rare exceptions, those who venture there eventually get polluted and forget the states/people they represent and just represent their own interests.

The only five exceptions I can think of in my lifetime:

  1. President Reagan
  2. Rep. H.R. Gross of Iowa
  3. Sen. Jesse Helms of North Carolina
  4. Sen. Jim Bunning of Kentucky
  5. Sen. Carl Curtis of Nebraska

Perhaps there are others, but you are so right that it is a damn short list.

There is also a handful of those in the present congress who could potentially make that list, but we'll have to see if they can stand the test of time. Even Sen. Barry Goldwater got mildly compromised in the end, albeit mildly.

“TX doesn’t have a second Cruz-like/compatible politician?”

Congressman Louie Gohmert

some of his quotes http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/l/louie_gohmert.html

I like this one:
“There are consequences if you stand up for what you believe. Heck, you might - you might lose your sponsors if you’re a talk show host; or if you’re running for office, you know, people not give to you or people might not vote for you. Louie Gohmert

yes it is a small list.

Years ago a Texas Congressman by the name of Bill Archer I had thought was that way too. He was Chairman of the House Ways and Means and always did his own income taxes because he wanted to see for himself how the people had to deal with the IRS and its complications.

Yeah, the fence, IIRC, is a bit different, though, isn’t it? The Congress DID authorize the monies for the fence....the administration did not BUILD the fence.

I am a BIG FAN of “earmarks”, even though everyone seems to hate them. Why do I like them? Because earmarks DO NOT allow a rogue executive or bureaucracy to take money from the taxpayer and use it for other purposes.

Hey Connecticut voters... Please do your part. Lets see if we can get John Larson (D) to go home to East Hartford's Mayberry Village.

I hope CT's 2 (Eastern CT), 4 (Fairfield County) and 5 (Litchfield Hills) will be in play. I doubt John Larson or Rosa Witch will lose.

I think CT governor might lose. (Unless he finds 500 votes illegally like he did 4 years ago).
