If you enjoy seeing an enemy’s nose rubbed in the dirt, you’ll love this story. Remember all of Karl “Tokyo” Rove’s attacks and snide remarks about the TEA party movement? Remember how he worked so hard to defeat TEA party-backed candidates, belittling them at every opportunity? Well, all of that vitriol and bile has come back to bite Tokyo in the ass.

The main reasons Rove isn’t generating any contributions is his attack on conservatives but more importantly his wholesale asskicking he took and the millions he wasted on 12!

Rove was just as wrong with his predictions of a Romney win as was Dick Morris. Faux News fired Morris, but kept Rove on the payrole. They should tell you something about Faux News’ politics. They are for the Washington elite and no one else.

When I speak of Rove’s prior successes, I of course do not refer to the Romney debacle. I refer of course to the two Bush victories, for which he had a significant hand in delivering because he clearly understood the complex electoral landscape of the time. Clearly that landscape has shifted, and the DEMs have upped their game in response to those shifts. The CONs seem not to have command of the math needed to make a concerted effort to get grass roots excited and focused on key races to win nationally. We need a team, headed by a Conservative ‘Rove’, who can study the national electoral math and help keep the focus on the ball, which is gaining seats for the conservative arm. Of course getting a conservative ‘Rove’ face time on the boob tube in another challenge.

I don’t think the NAU idea is as popular among elites now as then. However, the same old coalition of deep pocketed elite republicans teamed up with elite democrats remains. the former wants cheap labor. the latter wants cheap votes. And screw the country.

that amnesty thingy that the republican leadership put out looks like a reflection of the terrible tension the republican leadership feels between those who pay the bills and those who render the vote. It looks like their thinking is that if they do nothing they alienate their bankers. If they do something they alienate their voters. So they chose to do a will of the wisp. A {} that is neither something or nothing. A would’ve could’ve should’ve.

The typical strategy is to wait till after primaries and then pull a fast one. But the base is on to the leadership this time. I don’t think that will work. And the leadership already knows it.

Soon enough the dems will figure it out. But they won’t do anything until after the election. The most dangerous time will come between what looks to be a blow out election and January when the new congressional class comes in. After January the pubbies will have a fairly united front on capital hill. And if things keep going the way they are with mcconnel—that mild mannered man will not get to be the next majority leader.

Now the fight for at least the next year and maybe the next three years —will be over constraining the presidents abuse of executive privilege.

Because he will certainly try to just f-ck you illegal aliens are citizens. And democrats to boot.

This will be a tougher more ambiguous fight. But every man will have to be on the ramparts.

Years ago, when this whole "elite" thing started, there were rich liberal Republicans with names like Rockefeller, Scranton, Lodge, Chaffee, Percy, Romney. Those who aren't dead now usually vote Democrat (okay, with the possible exception of Romney).

Nowadays, the people who get called "elite" aren't all that rich (in comparison to other people in politics or showbiz) or all that liberal. Maybe Rove is pompous or condescending or smug, I don't know. But if Karl Rove is an elitist, it must not be much of an elite. Ditto for Boehner. Whatever's wrong with him he's no Rockefeller.

I guess the idea is that there is some great conservative populist wave that will sweep out incumbents and replace them with more conservative challengers. As recent races in Indiana, Missouri, and Delaware showed, that doesn't always happen. And challengers who do win are only a few years away from disappointing you just as the old incumbents did.

You have no talent for understanding context. Rove is elite in the terms of “governing elite” - but I’m not sure you really understand what I mean.

As for your bringing Missouri into this, it demonstrates your abject ignorance of what, what Todd Akin was and how he won the primary. Then again, that ignorance is why you support the establishment.

Rove got lucky. He backed the horse that won the race. A lot of these guys you call the "governing elite" are in the same position. They dropped out of college to work on political campaigns and their candidate got in. They may be horrible people, but, as elites go, they aren't much of an elite.

What you call "context" is something easily manipulated, or at least in flux. Ann Coulter is an enemy of the "GOP elite" until she puts one foot wrong and then overnight she's one of its leaders and a sworn enemy. That's reason enough to be wary of your "context."

My context is totally a sound notion…..and yes, you’re right about Coulter, and also William Kristol, and Newt, and some others who are at times one of the shining lights against the governing elites…and at others part of that same cabal. I can handle it intellectually, and I’m sorry if I’m over your head here.

None of that changes the fact that Rove is 100% part of the governing elite camp. Period.

Did the Romans have a word for those who facilitated the Bread and Circus? Someone had to arrange to provide them: collect the money from the rich and pass it on to the bakers, deliverers and the impresarios of the gladiators.

It would sure come in handy...

Talk of "elites" conjures up visions of Fifth Avenue millionaires and Wall Street banks deaf to the cries of starving farmers in the Dust Bowl. That's part of the "context" of the word as well, and that emotional impact is why people like to toss the word "elite" around.

But this fight isn't any great epic battle. Say Rove is defeated and deposed, what happens next? A younger, fresher campaign consultant or spin doctor or guru steps up, talks a conservative game, gets used to Washington, gets drawn into making compromises, and gets rejected as part of the governing elite. It's not any earth-shaking battle of haves and have-nots, just a reshuffle of chairs. Circle of political life.

I can take or leave Karl or Ann or Newt or Bill. The model here is somebody like Phil Gramm, the sometime populist who was personally and unashamedly profiting from illegal immigrant labor on a large scale. After him, it's difficult for me to credit all the populist rhetoric about elitist Rove or Boehner or Coulter. You learn to expect less from people in politics and not to make differences in tactics into differences of principle.

If you have substantive differences with these people present them and I may agree with you. But all the indignant talk of elites is a little hard to take. Today's insurgent is tomorrow's governing elitist. Sometimes you don't even have to wait that long. And politics, if you expect too much from it, will cause you a lot of pain.

There are different kinds of elites, and yes, Fifth Ave an Wall Street are one type, but there are academic elites and political elites also.

Openly announcing a war on the tea party was stupid...now proven to be the case.

Yeah, way better to do it your way.

Post on a Conservative Tea Party supporting website and stab the Tea Party in the back with snarky comments with no backup.

Typical leftist (dem and republican) tactic, post false damaging information and then hightail it out of there.
