Bill would grant driver’s licenses, permits to undocumented immigrants in R.I. / Poll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Immigrants living in Rhode Island illegally would be able to apply for driver’s licenses and permits, under legislation recently introduced into the General Assembly on behalf of Governor Chafee. The proposed “driving privilege licenses” and “driving privilege permits” would be a separate category from regular driver’s licenses and driver’s permits, according to the proposal, which has been introduced by state Rep. Anastasia Williams, D-Providence, and state Sen. Frank Ciccone, D-Providence. They would also not be a valid form of identification for federal or state purposes (such as voting) and would be a different design or color from regular licenses and permits. Williams said the proposal is about improving road safety and ensuring that residents have the ability to drive to work and contribute to the state’s economy — regardless of their legal status.

As it is they cannot drive right without a license and with a license they shall be able to become good drivers from some dumb down dmv test. This is also with no drivers ED or any other training. The state is saying they do not care what laws are being broken.

If they are here, we need to provide them with the proper tools to be law abiding citizens while they are working out their legal statuses.”I sure would like to hear her take on how they are working out their legal statuses ? Plus they are asking for eliminating the requirement that state agencies and vendors screen workers using the federal “E-Verify” system. The other was allowing children of undocumented immigrants to receive the in-state resident tuition rate at Rhode Island’s public colleges and universities...Undocumeted illegals sure do have lots of documents when it serves a purpose.

Probably not gun permits though, they are hard to get in RI.

I assume that the Drivers licensees must be marked to identify illegals as in Maryland, because they cant be used as Federal IDs for air travel, per federal law.

The REAL goal is that it is an ELECTION ENROLLMENT tool
for illegals (like in other states).

Next they’ll issue them an automobile and a gas card. Don’t laugh. You don’t know how many hundreds of thousands of dollars in fuel credit cards I issued in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

I think this entire thing about coddling illegal invaders is the result of generations of exposure to a philosophy that claims criminals are not responsible for their crimes. Their crimes are due to social factors beyond their control. So if people break the law to escape from a government that is corrupt and evil to come here, its not their fault, its ours for not extending them a helping hand to get in here in the first place.

Liberalism is a disease of defective thinking.

With liberals, its always touting the next level of degeneracy; to show how oh so “progressive” they are.
They clamor for homosexual marriage. They get that. They move on down the line to accepting pedophilia as “normal”. They get that, they’ll be pushing necrophilia. There is no “done” with them until everything is destroyed.

It’s the same with illegals. Why is this even open for discussion? What happened to the oath every one of these politicians took to uphold the law? They’ll push for drivers licenses. Then, what the heck, let them vote; they’re here anyway.

EXACTLY.

But this is what happens when you have serial political office holders. They get to think they know better than anybody else. They feel they are entitled to make decisions the public disagrees with.

The GOP is just as bad as the Rats in that respect. Look at Hatch, Grassly, McCain, Linda Graham, McConnell, Connery - all arrogant bastards who should have left office ages ago. No politician should be a career office-holder.

Super, this is a great way for native US born criminals to get second identities. Now I can get 3 aliases and apply for food stamps, Medicaid etc.
But, OTOH, it really might come in handy for conservatives to have an alias, if we have to go underground during martial law.

Boehner, Undeterred, Moves Forward on Immigration

Speaker John Boehner isn’t ready to let the dream die. On Tuesday, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell told reporters immigration is just not in the cards in 2014. Last Thursday, rank-and-file House members sent a loud message at that President Obama is not the partner for legislation, spooking even top proponent Paul Ryan. The editors from National Review, Weekly Standard, and numerous other top conservative pundits have urged the Ohio Republican to cut it out. However, since the GOP retreat last week, Boehner has just kept marching along.
