There is no default on student loan debt anymore, it lasts forever.

Be on the look out for the Executive Order!

Better still, learn a skill at a technical school and earn your own way through college. Actually a technical skill can have more earning power than a degree.

The states have never delagated to the feds, via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for the purposes of vote-winning student aid, the 10th Amendment automatically reserving such power uniquely to the states. So students actually need to work with their state lawmakers if they want “government” student aid.

Even an executive order wouldn’t do it.

That could only cover employees under his direct control, and even then he could only delay collection for a short time.

What we need to address the cost of higher education isn’t another leftist shilling for free taxpayer money.

What we need is for University professors and administrative staff to do what every other sector of America has been forced to do. They should pull in their belts and cut their salaries by 50%.

Here are the general requirements to get aid or at least up your odds.

Come from a single mother or divorced parents
Be a single mother
Be a minority (non white)
Don’t have a job
Don’t have parents with investments, bank accounts, a farm or any kind of assets, in other words, be a bum.

These are the high points I gleaned from my kids filling out FASFA. Since my kids and I didn’t fit into any of the above, I paid out of pocket for college. the few scholarships and grants covered very little.

People CANNOT discharge student debt via bankruptcy —in many cases the entities that encourage the foolhardy debt creation also own the COLLECTION AGENCIES.

They UNDERSTAND it’s a bad investment, but don’t care because they literally have FOREVER to squeeze the money out of you, often with loads of interest.

Somehow the education system is totally immune from ALL MANNER of basic burdens foisted upon the private sector.

“He gave me an F because I don’t like collectivism” —TOUGH LUCK

The FIRST step to a cure —no more Federally backed loans for USELESS LIBERAL ARTS DEGREES.

Big Education is a significant funding mechanism for Democrats. I don’t see it feeling much market pressure any time soon.

Liberal arts profs are major campaign supporters of Democrats.

Your premise has about as much chance of happening as Obama playing on the PGA Senior Tour in 2017.

Used to work with a woman who had used student loans to attend one of those private massage therapy schools, which she didn’t complete. When I knew her, she was working as an AA, barely making more than minimum wage and had had the loans in forebearance for more than 5 years, interest accruing and being added to principal the whole time. Loan amount had more than doubled to over $75K. She had no intention of ever taking it out of forebearance or making any payments on it.

The next time they REALLY need a big turnout of yutes to put them over the top in an election, forgiveness will happen. Bank on it.

Yes I’ve been thinking when Julia and Pajama Boy get uneasy over Grandma’s early demise via the Death Panel, the regime will start sending out Groupons for student loan relief.

So THAT IS WHY Obama wants everyone to go to college.

Sick.

Four years at an expensive school, being indoctrinated with old school communism by day, filled with beer and semen by night, and come out with zero marketable skills but over $100k in debt to the government.
