Bloomberg moving NH closer to gun owner registration
New Hampshire Firearms Coalition ^ | 2-5-14 | Jonathan R. Evans, Esq.

Freedom and liberty took a step back yesterday when the New Hamsphire House Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee voted 10-8 on a straight party line vote “Ought to Pass” (OTP) on HB 1589. “Sell a gun to a friend go to jail.”

Now, some will say the bill was amended and it is no longer anti-gun. Well that is simply not true.

HB 1589 (as amended) still creates a new crime if you sell a firearm privately. The first time it is a Class B Misdemeanor which carries a fine up to $1200 but the second and all subsequent offenses are Class A Misdemeanors that can put you in jail for a year. Now some will argue that a person cannot lose their Second Amendment Rights for a misdemeanor, only a felony would cause you to lose your Second Amendment Rights. Do you want to try to apply for a carry license and have to list on the application that you were convicted of a firearms related misdemeanor? Maybe you will get denied maybe you will not; who knows???

I can tell you this, HB 1589 is laying the ground work for otherwise law abiding citizens to lose their Second Amendment Rights. You see, this bill gives the Bloomberg, New York City elitists some momentum to pass broad and far reaching gun and magazine bans, ammunition bans and taxes and every other far out New York City style infringement that they can think of. We must stop HB 1589.

I need to you to click here to send an email to all 400 NH State Representatives. I have supplied a pre-written message that you can copy and paste or you can send your own personalized note.

—Pre-Written Message—

Dear Representative:

If there was ever any question as to whether New Hampshire House Democrats on the Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee were wholly-owned puppets of New York City liberals, Tuesday’s vote “ought to pass” on HB 1589 certainly removed all doubt.

On Tuesday, February 4, the committee voted, along party lines, to approve the universal gun registration legislation that former NY City Mayor Michael Bloomberg had demanded from them.

The legislation would effectively outlaw private firearms transfers in New Hampshire. And, because the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms has recently taken to making copies of gun dealers’ 4473 forms during annual audits, New Hampshire gun owners will be dumped into a national gun registry.

The bill, H.B. 1589, now goes to the House floor, where it will be voted on next Wednesday, February 12.

The bill would not have stopped Newtown, where shooter Adam Lanza stole his guns. It would not have stopped shooter James Holmes at Aurora nor shooter Jared Loughner at Tucson.

In the end, an amendment to the bill which purported to deal with problems, made things worse.

The amended bill now claims it does not cover a “noncommercial sale”. But “commercial” is defined as a sale at a gun show or a sale “pursuant to an advertisement, posting, listing, or display”. And “display” is not defined. So, if you have ever placed an ad in your gun club newsletter or the club web site you will be in violation of the law and might go to jail.

But what if you merely let your “buyer” look at the gun? Is that a “display”? As we have seen in the Obama administration and his ‘department of justice’, where there is ambiguity in the law or even when there is not, gun haters will drive a truck through a pin hole to take away your freedom.

Finally, make no mistake about the purpose of this bill: All of the Bloomberg groupies who spent the last year harassing Senator Kelly Ayotte are planning to troop up to Governor Maggie Hassan’s office for the signing ceremony. This victory, in turn, will give them a “shot in the arm” which will propel their next set of demands: gun bans, magazine bans, and ultimately, as in New York, confiscation.

One thing that I have learned over the last 18 years, is that gun control does not lead to less crime. Gun control only leads to more gun control! There is only so much we can give up before it’s all gone. Here is where we must stand our ground. Keep Fighting! Keep Fighting! Keep Fighting!

Don’t let billionaire Bloomberg buy New Hampshire.

Please vote against Bloomberg’s H.B. 1589.

Sincerely,

After you use the link above to email all 400 Representatives, I need you to click here to find YOUR Representative and call him/her and let them know that you expect them to vote HB 1589 “inexpedient to legislate” (ITL).

If any of these elected officials sends you an email please forward that email to NHFC.

Thanks for your support.

In Liberty, Jonathan R. Evans, Esq. President – NHFC

From what I heard we already have “sell a gun privately and go to jail” in Illinois.

The 2a was put into the Constitution as the 2nd Amendment for a reason. It is time for people to start exercising their 2a rights ... that is regardless of any unconstitutional laws on the book. The 2a is a remedy.

Tiny N H has 400 state representatives? Your government has become too big, no wonder those elected fools sit around and find ways to take away your rights & freedoms. Time for another American revolution.

Live Free or Die?

Some state may want to adopt that motto since NH is having a hard time following it.

This is what happens when Massholes and NYers infest your state. Its a sad day for NH. The hearing was packed out w/ gun owners BUT the tards on the committee decided to ignore The Little People. They always know better....

Good news is it still has to be voted on by the full legislature.

Bloomberg moving NH closer to gun owner registration

Now we're getting somewhere. All the fuss about those inanimate objects was just preparatory rhetoric.

What we really want to "register" are the people.

Just make them wear a yellow star, or something.
