With Chris Christie still stuck in a traffic scandal at the foot of the George Washington Bridge, the donors and Main Street Republicans who make up the bulk of the GOP center-right establishment can be forgiven for feeling a little nervous.
If Christie fades, this cohort, which boosted both Mitt Romney and John McCain to the nomination, fear that a Tea Party-fueled candidate will take over the party, leading to a drubbing at the hands of the Democrats come November 2016.
Thus hopes have turned to Jeb Bush as a possible savior, even though the Florida governor has been out of office for seven years. It’s why Paul Ryan is practically being dragged into the race, even though the Wisconsin congressman and former vice-presidential nominee seems set on staying in the House. It’s why there have even been rumbles that even Romney is considering another go, his two-time rejection by the American public notwithstanding.
So without other options, can the establishment learn to love Scott Walker?
The controversial Wisconsin governor is slated to come and hobnob with top New York donors this spring, and he has quickly become a top draw for radio and TV bookers now that Christie has gone mostly silent. And although Walker’s public persona as a cultural warrior for the Tea Party became cemented after his efforts to strip the union public sector of collective bargaining rights, for many, his appeal actually lies in the fact that he may be one of the few Republicans running who can sway independent voters.

Scott Walker beats those Senator talkers in huge regards, he delivered results and he will be re-elected too.
He also ran a state and very well.
Better yet, unlike those losers who went up against Romney, Walker supporters can argue that he is electable when going against the GOPe candidate in the primary.

We’re not likely to win without some moderation in the immigration issue. Bush barely won twice with a very welcoming message to Hispanics. The country is in a different place now after the AZ immigration actions and there is room for a more conservative message than Bush had. We need a candidate who welcomes Latino voters into the party and offers some measures of immigration reform. That does not mean citizenship shortcuts or free rides to lawbreakers, but it does mean presenting practical solutions. A good conservative President like Walker, Cruz, etc can possibly be trusted to do it right, as opposed to the current administration who will bastardize any bill and focus on fattening up the Democratic voter rolls.
If we go with a Trancredo message, we will lose.

I've given money to Scott twice, even though his statehouse is about 700 miles away, but before I'd support him for President I'd have to know a lot more, especially about the loose remarks he made concerning illegals last year.
The question you're responding to specifically identified "illegal immigrants".

I don’t know sir . It has never worked out for those who have never served to then try and act as our Commander and Chief . So, let us hear what Scott has to say.
Reagan signed an amnesty bill. Would he sign it if he were President today, knowing what we know now? I like Walker. I admire Walker. And, as I made clear I contributed to Walker. But, if Walker says he will sign an amnesty bill in 2017, he disqualifies himself for me.
It doesn't come down to just him or Hillary.
I have seen two polls of legal Hispanics on the immigration issue. Both were two-to-one against amnesty (roughly 60-32).
And why not? Legal Hispanics are either the sons and daughters of families who have been in the USA for generations, if not hundreds of years, or have gone to the trouble and expense of jumping through all the immigration hoops.
From this, I conclude that the best way for the GOP to improve its percentage of the Hispanic vote is to adapt a strong anti-amnesty stance and clearly state their justification for doing so as a principled defense of American citizenship -- and not cheapening it by awarding to people who have come here illegally.
Recall that Republicans don't have to win a majority of the Hispanic vote to impact elections. 40% would do it...and that's within reach.
I was afraid that might be the case. After our experience with Ryan and Priebus as national party leaders, I'm not sure we'll find what we need in Wisconsin.
