Colorado Republican Rep. Cory Gardner is demanding an emergency waiver from the Endangered Species Act for a species of mouse that threatens to delay flood recovery in Colorado.

The Preble’s Meadow Jumping Mouse is a threatened species under the ESA, meaning that any governmental action—such as flood recovery—must first consider potential impacts on the tiny animal’s habitat, even if that habitat was also destroyed in the flood that wiped out entire Colorado communities in September.

On Monday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency sent a notice to Colorado officials that the presence of the mouse in the flood zone “may cause some delay in projects undertaken in the Preble’s mouse habitat.” …

“The Preble’s Meadow Jumping Mouse is a threatened species “

Uh...NO! It was long ago admitted it is NOT a seperate “species”!!!!!

This was clear LONG before it was admitted.

I’m pretty sure the flood rocked his poor little world much more violently than any recovery efforts ever will.

Not separate from what other species of mouse? and when was this clarified?

The government still lists it as threatened either way.

Not only have the states never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to legislatively address protect endangered animal species, but why don’t scientists clone endangered species and not worry about them?

People need to get used to the idea that their very existence , in some way, causes “harm” to others. Mice or whatever. But are they willing to give up their cars and electronic devices and whatnot to live in harmony with nature and take their chances? Not likely. When you see your life as no more nor no less valuable than that of any insignificant creature, then you can preach. Better yet, be at peace with the world and STFU.

The last few lines were hysterical.

"In reply, Larimer County Commissioner Steve Johnson said he hoped all the mice drowned."

I was mumbling to myself about this “ Preble’s Meadow Jumping Mouse”. I looked over to my snake cage and one of the Black Mambas started to drool. I kid you not!

Just another example of His Arrogance’s FEMA, Interior and EPA hate for white taxpaying American citizens.

Is FEMA now a subset agency of the EPA?

A guy from FEMA came around wanting to know if I'd like to sign up for assistance. I told him my basement was flooded and I lost my carpet, padding and a few possessions but it was due to a plugged french drain not a direct consequence of flooding. He said that didn't matter. I said it did and made it real clear that I didn't want any help from the FedMob. He was a bit taken aback and as he turned to leave said he'd be back. Luckily for me he didn't hear my response to that but he hasn't been back.

They've just got to give that money away! Unless of course you live in NJ and your entire house is gone.

Send all of the Prebles mice to Denver. They will take care of them there.

Dunno, but this website says that “unstressed” rats can tread water for 60 hours (2½ days).

Yep. When I first bought a house here in Colorado that stupid vermin was considered “endangered”, later the liberals admitted it wasn’t endangered.
