Cornyn Challenger Dwayne Stovall Gets a Tea Party Endorsement [U.S. Senate Race-Texas]

WASHINGTON– [Texas] Republican Senate candidate Dwayne Stovall has garnered an endorsement from Grassroots America– We the People, a statewide tea party group based in Tyler.

The endorsement buttresses Stovall’s recent claims that he’s the tea party favorite against Sen. John Cornyn.

“As far as we’re concerned, [Stovall's] the only viable candidate in the race,” said JoAnn Fleming, executive director of Grassroots America. “We didn’t even consider Steve Stockman because of his record of being less than honest with the media about his campaign finances. We also don’t feel he has the temperament.”

The group has expressed a marked lack of enthusiasm for the incumbent, saying Cornyn does not fight for true conservative values

Whatever you think of his parents’ marital status at the time of his birth, yes Cornyn is going to win this, I suspect without a runoff.

We’ve had worse.

"The problem we have is that Stovall Vs Stockman increases Cornyn’s chance of re election by diluting the vote."

It doesn't work that way- it's a primary- I believe that Cornyn needs to get over 50% to win the primary, (which will preclude a runoff election) and if he gets less than 50%, there is a runoff between him and the next highest candidate ONLY. That is what we're shooting for. There is no dilution, only one Republican will run in the general election. If something I have said here is incorrect, I'm sure that I will be corrected.

And if he gets more than 50%?
There is the rub.

If Cornyn receives more than 50% in the primary, he is the Republican nominee and will run in Nov against the democrat, communist, libertarian and all other parties’ candidates.

We still have to decide who we want to back, Stockman or Stovall.
Stockman has some experience and is a teaparty guy.

Cornyn was only polling 50% in December. There hasn’t been another poll since which tells me that those numbers have slipped. He needs to pull 50% to avoid a run-off correct?

Not at all.

As with Lidsay Graham in South Carolina, Cornyn faces a run off election if he cannot garner fifty percent of the Republican ballots.

Any vote in the primaries not for Cornyn weakens him and drags down his momentum.

Heck, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin and others like Senate Conservatives Fund haven’t weighed in on this as best I know.

All that matters to me is that Stovall, Stockmaen (who I would vote for if I lived in TX) and the others all get over 50 percent leading to Cornyn losing in the second round.

50% + 1. Correct.

Houston radio talk show host Michael Berry, whose wife is the new Texas Secretary of State, is taking calls from Texans asking which candidate they support for Senate.

He can be called from 8-11 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at 713-212-5874.

I am not sure about Stockman. I know he is conservative but expect he really thinks he can beat Cornyn. Because Cornyn has acquired the DC disease, too close to the corruption.

I agree.

The Greeks had it figured out correctly: Every man was obligated to spend 6 years in Public Service, no more, no less.

Both Cornyn and Stockman are career politicians, and thus both should be retired by us tax-paying voters.

I don't personally know Stockman. Only what I have read about him. I share some intensity of dislike for our internal enemies with him, but am cautious of the loose cannon syndrome.

We need Congressmen and Senators who are untainted by the DC Disease. (total corruption) So, at this point I plan on voting for Stovall. BUT, the last thing we want to do is allow some ComDem Btard to win the General Election.

I doubt Cornyn will prevail in the primary.

His radio spot lies are as big as Obama’s Big Lies.

As Lincoln said, “You can’t beat somebody with nobody”, and to Republican primary voters Cornball is “somebody”, and Stovall and Stockman are “nobody”.

I understand your logic, but this will not be a normal election. The negative associated with Obozo will haunt every ComDem.

And in my opinion, Cornyn is so bad as to almost be as bad as having a ComDem in the office. Not much difference.

So I look at it this way, vote for the best man anyway. At this point I think it is Stovall.

Best outcome, the best man for the job gets it.

GOPe is using your logic, they don’t want DC to be shrunk. That is exactly what MUST happen.
