On Wednesday, Mayor John Tkazyik explained in the Poughkeepsie [N.Y.] Journal that he and almost 50 other mayors have dropped out of former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg’s group Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG).

The reason they left? They all felt Bloomberg was using the organization to trample on the Second Amendment rather than to push for the stricter enforcement of existing laws. Tkazyik complained that:

More should drop out. I guess it's kind of like the lost hours/jobs due to the obiecare act. Now these folks have free time to pursue what they are passionate about, be able to tuck their kids in at night, start a business. Oh, sorry got off track there for a second. They probably didn't bail on nannie bloomers cause they had a change of heart about guns. Election time might be the cause. Once the 'lections are over they might join back up. (Never hear a word from "Guns Against Illegal Mayors" do we?)

The mayors were hoping to get some money. They learned the effort would cost them money.

Wow! It took them long enough to figure it out.

Anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together knew what Bloomberg was up to the day he formed the group.

ISRA Thursday Bulletin - February 6

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE

“The death of actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman, who died Sunday with a syringe full heroine stuck in his arm, is being lamented by many, but not by me. Hoffman narrated an antigun cartoon which demonizes gun ownership along with actress Julianne Moore and of course, it was financed by MAIG. The media is falling all over themselves saying what a wonderful guy he was, what a wonderful actor he was, and on and on. I disagree. People like Hoffman are part of the drug culture that is destroying our young people and tearing the fabric of this county apart.”

That's their story, and they're sticking to it.

Yeah, I kinda got no sympathy for the asshat. Let’s see, he’s been clean for 23 years and all of a sudden he pops some uber “good” H and is found DOA with the needle hanging out of his arm and another 70(?) bags of H in the room. Bye bye dumbass. The real concern now is who is gonna play Plutarch in the finale of the Hunger Games?

It is important to compile a list of existing members, solely to provide election ammo to their political opponents. It makes good sense to them, if for no other reason than by forcing the incumbent to defend their membership in a national anti-second amendment organization.

It will not only convince some more of their members to drop out, but make others far less likely to join.
