Obama may illegally further delay Obamacare provision
American Thinker ^ | 02/07/2014 | Thomas Lifson

Posted on 02/07/2014 7:17:57 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Desperate over the impact of Obamacare on voters, the Obama administration is leaking a plan to extend suspension of the requirement for insurance companies to drop "substandard" individual plans until safely after the 2016 elections. The president already unilaterally imposed a one year delay, but now is apparently considering a further delay to postpone the political consequences -- Americans losing the plans he promised they could keep -- until after he is out of office. Tom Murphy of AP reports:

The Obama administration is considering an extension of the president's decision to let people keep their individual insurance policies even if they are not compliant with the health care overhaul, industry and government officials said Thursday.

Avalere Health CEO Dan Mendelson said Thursday that the administration may let policyholders keep that coverage for as long as an additional three years, stressing that no decision has been made. Policymakers are waiting to see what rate hikes health insurers plan for the insurance exchanges that are key to the overhaul's coverage expansions.

"The administration is entertaining a range of options to ensure that this individual market has stability to it, and that would be one thing that they could do," he said.

This report is being confirmed by others:

Health and Human Services spokesman Joanne Peters confirmed that the issue is under discussion, saying: "We are continuing to examine all sorts of ways to provide consumers with more choices and to smooth the transition as we implement the law. No decisions have been made."

Yup, tin horn dictators love to make up laws as they go along.

Sort of “on the job training.”

So? He’s violated the law and the Constitution on a daily basis. Who’s going to do anything to stop that? Boehner? McConnell?

Give me a break.

So, tell me, why did Obama, Harry Reid and Democrats go to such great lengths to fight Ted Cruz and Conservatives when they wanted a delay for Obamacare?

So they were right, huh. It really is all about politics, isn't it? They are willing to let America and Americans suffer because they cling to their ideology rather than do what's right.

And were is the corrupt MSM? What a bunch of leftist hacks.

This goes right along with the leftist ideology - that those in power have the intellectual and moral capacity to actually make things up on the fly and everything will work out fine,

and if not, they just rearrange the chess pieces to their liking to try a different way.

And, you’ll not find many sheeperals that would say he shouldn’t be making these ad hoc decisions. After all, he’s smart because... well, the sheeperals are smart, or want to think of themselves as smart, and they wouldn’t support someone who is dumb because they’re smart, right?

They see all the cancellation notices coming this fall from employers and know that will adversely effect Democrats in the Mid-Term elections. Putting it off for 3 years not only moves the bad news past the 2014 elections but also the 2016 elections. This is strictly a political decision and you can guarantee it will happen even if it is unconstitutional.

The fact that this move is being floated means that there is time to react and point out that the only way to alter the law is through congressional action.

I'm sure somewhere in the thousands of pages of the law there will be some language that provides for administrative wiggle room.

We are witnessing the first of many major Public tests of the failed Keynesian Economic Theory, (KET).

The current test will will be very painful and moderately short IF the damn Congressional RINOs do not “rescue” KET, Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, Food Stamps, Unemployment Payments, and Quantitative Easing.

Bingo. You are correct sir. Only someone who is pigment protected, could get away with the things he does. Pretty sad isn't it?

The Republicans seem to do anything in there power not to be seen as an opposition party. The constant beat down by the corporate media is always turned on them the minute they point out an issue with Obama and the Democrats. By twiddling their thumbs and avoiding fighting, the media types get bored and start to actually have to deal with the disaster of Obamacare. The same goes for the brain dead public that eats up anything the entertainment / media complex tells them.

This could be a case of not interfering with the process of watching Obamacare implode. That way the Democrats and Obama have full ownership in the public’s eye since the media can’t harp that the evil Republicans are the reason the master plan isn’t working.

Sounds like he might be getting an earful from Dems. Like it or not, he has to work down the road....likely on the circuit (though I think not). The party is going to provide any jobs for him in the future...he must bend...and he will...

The communists empire has totally corrupted and are in the control of the Federal Government. Forget Bonehead, he is one of them. When impeachment begins I might change my mind on Bonehead and McConnell.

You have to know that I would proudly follow a man like Allen West in a full out assault on the Gates of Hell.

At the same time, I wouldn’t cross the street to piss on Boehner if he were engulfed in flames and my bladder was on the verge of bursting.

Nostalgia: A wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for the good old days of Nixon and Jimmy Carter, when despite the massive corruption followed by even more shocking incompetence, our leaders lacked the nerve to pretend that systematically violating the law was acceptable.

Don’t overlook the FACT that McConnell, Cornyn, McCain and Graham were aiding and abetting the Obama/Reid Mob in their effort to stick a dagger into the backs of TED CRUZ, MIKE LEE and RAND PAUL to defund Obamacide.

Its a delima for me. On one hand, I agree he is damaging our constitution and process by just writing law as he needs. On the other hand.... I'm one of those that is early retired and several years away from medicare. I have an individual plan that is MUCH cheaper than I can get through obammy care. So for me... extending it and extending it is a good thing.

Eliminating the law is the answer... but nobody is really going to do that. So I see it falling apart piece by piece. I'm just glad my piece is one that is being dropped. (There will always be another election to worry about)

I wonder how many people actually have kept their old policy at the same rate and conditions. Since many states like CA did not even allow it
