Tea Party Express - Restore Libery, Honor The Constitution

ANNOUNCEMENT: Tea Party Express Endorses Katrina Pierson for U.S. Congress in Texas' 32nd District

Tea Party Express, the nation's largest Tea Party political action committee, is proud to announce another endorsement of the 2014 election year.

At this very moment, Tea Party Express is holding press conferences throughout the Dallas, Texas area to endorse Tea Party activist Katrina Pierson for U.S. Congress in Texas' 32nd Distrct. She is the kind of promising conservative leader that is desperately needed in Washington, D.C.

Tea Party Express chairman Amy Kremer speaking at today's press conference to endorse Katrina Pierson for U.S. Congress

Since the inception of the Tea Party movement, she has been a tireless advocate for freedom, lower taxes, and a more vibrant economy. Katrina has been on the front lines, fighting alongside so many grassroots activists here in Texas, and it's time for us to now stand with her.

During her years as an activist, Katrina has never been shy about taking on the Republican or Democrat Party establishment. She has aligned with fellow citizens to push back against government overreach at all levels, from the White House all the way down to city council.

We need more women with fresh ideas to step up to the plate, run for office, and go to Washington to truly represent the people. Katrina Pierson is a fighter, who will not be intimidated or bullied by the establishment of either party. She embodies the American success story and will bring her experiences to D.C. and shake things up.

Tea Party Express endorsed U.S. Congressional candidate, Katrina Pierson

Katrina has served as a Steering Committee member for the Dallas Tea Party. She is also the Founder of the Garland Tea Party and a member of the Texas Tea Party Caucus Advisory Committee.  She has been a staunch advocate for the Tea Party and now it is our time to stand up and support her.

Please join us in supporting Katrina Piercson for U.S. Congress, and send a much needed conservative to Washington to fight for the values and principles that are important to us.

Q&A With Katrina Pierson, 2014 Congressional Candidate

Texas Tea Party Republican Set to Challenge GOP Incumbent

By

Republican Party bosses seem to have little tolerance for conservatives challenging incumbents in a primary. But tea party activist Katrina Pierson is doing just that in the 32nd Congressional District in Texas and has picked up the backing of Michelle Malkin, FreedomWorks, and Rafael Cruz (father of US Senator Ted Cruz). We asked Pierson about her campaign, why Sessions needs to be challenged, and what her priorities in congress would be.

When we first ask Pierson why Sessions should be replaced, we quickly get three documents answering that question. A political scorecard from conservative think-tank FreedomWorks shows a sharp drop in their rating of the candidate's votes over the last decade. A second document highlights some of those votes, including some in favor of debt-limit increases and in opposition to eliminating unnecessary government agencies that soak up tax dollars.

But the main document offers something many might not expect: an acknowledgement that Sessions' general voting record is fairly solid, and that he is not a "RINO." Though they highlight Sessions' worsening voting record, their opposition to Sessions grows from two other key areas. First up is his performance as the powerful Chairman of the House Rules Committee where Sessions "controls what goes to the floor of the U.S. House for a vote and what doesn't. If a bill is going to the floor, Sessions controls when it goes and under what conditions." His actions on Amnesty defunding Obamacare, and his refusal to support a Select Committee for the Benghazi scandal are major points of contention. Second, "Sessions' unwavering support for Speaker Boehner" is the other problem as the congressman has put his full faith behind the House Leadership despite single-digit approval ratings and their inability to effectively negotiate and to get conservative legislation signed into law.

We asked Katrina a few other questions about her campaign as well.

Dustin Hawkins: The Republican Party leadership seems to believe that political seats are for life and that incumbents should never be challenged, no matter how liberal or Democrat-lite they may be. What do you have to say about that line of thinking?

Katrina Pierson : The greatest threat to the people of the United States are career politicians.

DH: Did you grow up in a conservative household? When did you know that you were a conservative?

KP: No. I grew up on welfare to a teenage mother. I was born with a fire in the belly to do more and be more than society dictated for me. Eventually, I because the first to graduate college in my family and the first to break the poverty cycle. It wasn't easy, but I appreciate my journey as it allows me to help and inspire others.

DH: What would your top three priorities be in the US Congress?

KP: Get the federal government out of public education, term limits, restoring the bill of rights in their entirety.

DH: Finally, if you and four other people could sit around and write all the laws in the country, who would those four other people be?

KP: Rep. Justin Amash, Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Rand Paul, and Sen. Jim DeMint.

Katrina Pierson's website has more information about her campaign.

Ted Cruz Consultant Katrina Pierson Running For Congress To Unseat Pete Sessions

by: Ben Sherman

Tue Jan 21, 2014 at 10:00 AM CST

Katrina Pierson (r.) on the campaign trail with Ted Cruz

Katrina Pierson was a close consultant to Ted Cruz during his 2012 campaign for Senate. Now, she wants to join Cruz in Congress, and North Texas voters are about to hear a lot more about her.

Pierson, who launched her campaign in September, is running in the Republican primary in the Dallas-area 32nd congressional district. That's the district Pete Sessions has represented since 2003. He's made a huge name for himself in Washington as a leading opponent of health insurance reform, efforts to protect the environment, immigration reform, and basically anything that represents American progress.

More below the jump.

Click the link to read more.

Ted Cruz is a BIG supporter of this candidate!

I am very happy to read this. I’m going to read a candidate appraisal the Texas State Rifle Association emailed to me because I have no idea who to vote for in most races, except I ain’t voting for Corny unless he runs for dogcatcher.

Looks like while Speaker John “Benghazi Coverup” Boehner has been wandering around in his drunken stupor, Pete Sessions has been Boehner’s Hatchet Man.

Boot “GOP-E” Pete Sessions out of office, and we FINALLY will get a Select Committee on Benghazi!

Go Pierson!

Will the Tea Party Express stand behind her to win the general election, or take off like usual offering virtually no support in comparison to their primary activity?

Her chances are not good because Texas Republicans prefer old names that they recognize. Even George P. Bush is technically an “old name”.

I’m going at this point with Stockman, Abbott, Patrick, Watts for land commissioner, Opiela for agriculture commissioner, Christian for railroad commissioner, and Talton for Chief Justice. No decision yet on attorney general (lean Paxton) or comptroller (lean Hegar).

“She’ll be great if we can get her elected.”

I agree.

The hard part will be the primary against incumbent Congressman Pete Sessions, who will have unlimited money to spend (he had raised $1.3 million by the end if 2013 and was only getting started). But whoever wins the GOP nomination will be elected in November, not because the district is particularly Republican (it gave Romney 57%, which was his lowest vote percentage in a CD currently held by a Republican), but because Democrats aren’t really contesting the seat (the filing deadline was Dec. 9, and the only Dem candidate is a guy who hasn’t reported raising any money and whose website doesn’t have any information).

I’m going w Stovall(Stockman seems a little looney tunes to me)
Abbott,
Patterson(Patrick is a Showboat),
there is no choice but Paxton for AG, Branch is the reason we have Joe Strauss and Smitherman is the reason we have Smart Meters, whether we wanted them or not.(Big Brother can turn your power off)
Hegar for comptroller
Miller for Agriculture, he is actually a farmer,
and Christian for RR Commissioner, just to stick it to Straus the man who redistricted Wayne out of his legilative seat.
