Ha! I have that same phone but recently upgraded. No other cellphone I know of sounds better when using in speakerphone mode.

It's a workhorse and an Energizer Bunny unit. I've got a case of 10 of these 2007 units - Nokia 6085 "Clamshell" cellphone - leftover from my business, and sitting in the basement, never opened. For me, one of those will be an "upgrade". Too much 'stuff' on an iPhone or Android.

You’re lucky you have electricity, I heard that was the worst area hit by the ice storm in the country.

Reports look ugly for that general area.

There were over 800,000 without power on Wednesday; I think it's down to 300-400,000 now. Crews were being brought-in from as far away as Michigan and Oklahoma to handle all the damage.

There are parts of York County which look as bad as Slovenia's recent ice storm. I was in several of the pockets today, and it was ugly. Now'd be the time to have a tree service company; work is guaranteed for at least 2 years of removal & clean-up.d be the time to have a tree service company; work is guaranteed for at least 2 years of removal

I saved a link to my electric utility’s “outage map” for my area.
Then it occurred to me that the only time I would ever really want to go look at it
was when my electricity was out and I would not be able to power up my computer, anyway!

The battery standby is easily a couple of weeks if you don’t use it all that much.

I don’t own a personal phone.
My work supplies me with an iphone.
I am lucky to get a full day on the battery.

I will retire in the next couple of years and will get as simple a phone as I can find.
If I need to surf the web, I will use my laptop.
If I need to take a photo, I will use my camera.
If I need directions, I will use my garmin.

I had to go out to check on Dad, my Sister - both okay with power and little tree damage - and some cousins and friends in rural areas, who weren’t so lucky. I snagged a Honda 3500 Portable Generator, got it into the Jeep, and took it to one of my cousins and his wife who’d lost power and were trying to get by with a fireplace and small wood pellet stove. Took a while to hook-up, but I got it going.

My Farm had a massive diesel generation unit, so I’m familiar with back-up systems, but everyone’s power grid applications vary, so it’s one step at a time in unfamiliar territory. All other cousins and friends were doing okay.

I also pulled a load of food and water from my basement stores, and dropped them off at a church food bank, since all family and friends were doing well. Busy morning.
