Two Rio Grande Valley natives are facing a series of child abuse charges after being accused of tasing their 9-year-old son, locking him a closet and other crimes.

Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Jorge Luis Estrella and Aide Aracely Estrella on child abuse charges late last week.

The two Brownsville natives moved to the Houston area where they're now accused of shocking the boy with a Taser, hitting him with a hanger, burning him repeatedly and locking in a closet under the stairs.

KTRK-TV reported that the abuse began when Aide, the boy's stepmother, accused him of taking her ring and lying about it when he denied it.

Estrella allegedly took the boy to the kitchen, turned on the gas stove and held his arm in the fire. The boy told detectives that he tried to pull away but she would not let him.

KTRK-TV reported that Jorge is currently out of jail after posting $125,000 in bonds while Aide remains in custody at the Fort Bend County Jail under $190,000 in bonds.

The Houston-based TV station reported that Child Protective Services has placed the boy with a foster family where he is said to be recovering.

In most places you have to have a license to catch a fish, own a dog, or drive a car. But any pair of idiots with the correct working parts can have a child.

It might be normal child rearing in their country of origin?

IN that case their “culture” should override any laws to protect children from abuse. /sarc

And plenty of people who would probably be excellent parents cannot be due to circumstances beyond their control. Sad, really.
