Girl sold by parents, enslaved in Irvine for years, is hidden no more
Orange County Register ^ | Feb. 10, 2014 | ROXANA KOPETMAN

Shyima Hall is surrounded with the stuff of childhood, the childhood she never had.

Her daughter's Minnie Mouse table and chairs sit on one side of her living room. Children's books are tucked neatly on a shelf under the TV. A box of her own new book, a memoir titled “Hidden Girl,” is brought out and opened on her leather sofa.

It's a world away from the one that first brought her media attention a dozen years ago, when she was rescued from a life of slavery in Irvine: a little girl sold in Egypt to a wealthy family who moved her to a gated neighborhood and made her their domestic servant.

Isn't multiculturalism grand?

How did this work with immigration? Welcome to America are you bringing just one slave? How about every person who visited that home? Didn't they notice the slave girl serving them? Don't want to be culturally insensitive an prosecute them. How about reparations for current day slaves vs an event that happened 150 years ago?

Is this the girl that the parents sold into slavery in order to get the huge TV on amazon? I mean it WAS a refurb after all, and they DID save $10 grand.

I hope that the rest of this young woman’s life is a total joy because she deserves it after what she lived through.

I forgot to ask...Do you grow Globe Artichokes? From early childhood, it was my favorite vegetable. I really miss them.

Why weren’t all the assets of the rich family given to her? At least the assets in the US.

I am reading about this increasingly often, both here in So Cal and No Cal. Not only servant girls, but sex slaves as well.

What a sick culture that does this, so incompatible with American traditions and values - yet the sick cultural marxists tell us that multiculturalism is grand and that no one culture is better than any other.

Slavery in San Francisco's China Town is a forbidden subject in that liberal city. It would be culturally insensitive to prosecute or even criticize the practice. SEX TRAFFICKING / San Francisco Is A Major Center For International Crime Networks That Smuggle And Enslave / FIRST OF A FOUR PART SPECIAL REPORT Meredith May Friday, October 6, 2006 Many of San Francisco's Asian massage parlors -- long an established part of the city's sexually permissive culture -- have degenerated into something much more sinister: international sex slave shops. Once limited to infamous locales such as Bombay and Bangkok, sex trafficking is now an $8 billion international business, with San Francisco among its largest commercial centers. San Francisco's liberal attitude toward sex, the city's history of arresting prostitutes instead of pimps, and its large immigrant population have made it one of the top American cities for international sex traffickers to do business undetected, according to Donna Hughes, a national expert on sex trafficking at the University of Rhode Island. http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/SEX-TRAFFICKING-San-Francisco-Is-A-Major-Center-2468554.php

What’s even more surprising is that SF Gate reported it.

Reports here in So Cal trickle out little by little, mostly from places like Irvine that have large Asian populations.

Vile. Saudi Arabia banned slavery in ‘46. That’s 1946.
