Ottawa (AFP) - Canada's conservative government pegged its re-election hopes Tuesday on a return to a budgetary surplus, while unveiling spending for a bridge, car manufacturing and pipelines to boost exports.

A 'boring' budget is how Canada's Finance Minister Jim Flaherty describes the budget released today. This year, no government spending cuts but no increases, after several years of cuts. Surplus expected to be $6.9CDN in 2015. The bdget includes millions for the construction of another bridge from Windsor north to Detroit. (Connecting I-75 and I-94 to ON Hwy 401 via the new Windsor-Essex Parkway.)

Hopefully, the Conservatives will be re-elected in the next election, rather than the Liberals or NDP.

They should have massive surplus judging on how much they take from me. It’s time for the west to get out. It’s nothing but a communist scheme. They take from the rich and give to the poor, I pay massive money for daycare, but Quebec gets it almost free, on my dime.

The article doesn’t address it but I suspect that when unfunded pensions are factored in the budget is nowhere near balanced.

The left`s reaction was already known, ‘ It`s done by cuts ! Slash and Burn ! On the backs of Canadians !

If it was a deficit the left`s reaction was known,’ Out of control ! Debt burden on our children ! Irresponsible ! ‘.

I don’t know what you pay, but in the early 90’s when my 2 sons were in daycare, I paid 832/month. More than my mortgage. Way more. Did that for 2 years and then quit my job, not worth it.

I can understand separating but no way do I want to go back to Liberal times. I can still see Lalonde telling people to sit on fruit crates if they couldn’t afford furniture (when interest rates were 18%). I bought my first house at 13.6% interest.
