Just a question...
2/11/2014 | Vanity

I know this is a vanity, but this kind of stuff drives me nuts and I know of no other place to vent. So...it's 2017 and a newly elected Republican president stands up and delays Obamacare indefinitely. He (She?) also delasy indefinitely minimum wage legislation, environmental regulations, extended unemployment benefits, gays in the military and any illegal alien 'reform'. What is there to stop him? Apparently not the Constitution.

The press would stop him. The press would destroy any politician that tried what you mentioned.

The mainstream media will stop him/her cold. You know how Republicans fear the press.

Democrats can ALWAYS trample the Constitution.

Republicans can only do so on things Democrats agree with.

Thus do we rush toward tyranny and statism.

Carry on.

Every XO can be overridden/voided by a subsequent POTUS.

Holding up the House’s decisions on funding is also within the pervue.

Yes the POTUS in 2017 could kill obozocare by either ensuring 100% compliance or gutting it completely.

The media, the left-wing judiciary, academia, NGOs, community organizers, LaRaza, LULAC, ACORN, the DNC, SPLC, the unions, etc., etc...

So what you are saying is that we are now being officially governed by the fourth estate. How comforting.

We need three or four more networks like Fox. OR.... we need some conservatives with $$$ to buy the big 3. Until one of those happens we’re going to struggle. That’s my opinion. People are ruled by and believe what they see and hear on Television.

The media.
Lok at the items you mentioned and they all increase consumer spending- which is what advertisers pay for.
The more consumer spending the more the media makes.

Fascinating to look at how much investment income has been diverted to consumer spending (IE:debt and taxes to welfare) by the government since TV has taken over the public square.

Obviously our economy is dying because investment income is being spent by the government but I see no way to stop it any more than the Romans could stop their Bread and Circus programs.

Interesting take on the dynamic that is going on. Look, the initial responses to my post indicated that for all practical purposes, the Constitution IS dead, and that a media-ocracy exists which allows or does not allow government actions. The media does so because it has a ‘let the good times roll’ mindset. I am not sure where we go to from here. Oblivion is a likely destination.

Satan
The real power behind what has happened in this country.

Unless......

22.2 Chronicles 7:14
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Entitlement programs are very difficult to get rid of once they are established. By 2017 Obamacare will be firmly established. Hard to imagine politicians taking it away.

“...it has a ‘let the good times roll’ mindset”.

Worse: it makes a commission (through advertising costs) on any increase in consumer spending. The conversion of assets and savings to spending is good for the media’s profits.
I don’t know why it’s so hard to accept that the media says and does what’s best for it’s profits but people certainly fight the idea LOL!

I truly understand now why the Romans could not stop their Bread and Circus from destroying them: the Bread and Circus was itself the public forum.

Yes, the press that whores for Obama and cover for him would NEVER do the same for a Republican president. Which is why newspapers are dying. It's not the internet it's the lack of ethics...

You're right on that kajm22. Which is why newspapers are dying.

It's not the internet that's killing newspapers, nightly news, and networks - it's their basic lack of ethics and fair play - as you just pointed out...

The press lets Obama make laws from his office, lets him cancel laws from his office and they pretend it's not a story. They would NEVER let a Republican do that... Feel free to vomit when you realize what the press has become.
