The debt ceiling will be raised and the country will not default on its debt, Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn said “unequivocally” on Thursday.
“We will raise the debt ceiling. We’re not going to default on our debt,” Cornyn (R-Texas) said to the Houston Chronicle’s editorial board.
“I will tell you unequivocally, we’re not going to default,” he added.

If I went to my boss and said, “you need to give me a raise or I will default on my mortgage,” he would say, “why don’t you just pay your mortgage with the money you have coming in every month and reallocate the rest?”
But John Cornyn is playing the establishment talking point game. So he needs to go.
Early voting to force him into a runoff begins next Tuesday, and the actual primary is on March 4th.
Let’s march forth on March 4th to begin to remove John Cornyn from power!!
Cornyn is whipping GOP YES votes for Harry Reid, but is going to vote NO on the debt ceiling removal! Weasel!
He’s whipping votes to give some cover to democrats like Landrieu and Pryor. I expect the usual traitors, McCain, Murkowski, Kirk, Collins and Ayotte to vote to get the democrats to 60.
The banana republic raises the debt ceiling again.
