The Boy Scouts of America experienced a modest dip in membership in 2013, but not the mass exodus that some social conservatives predicted while it was considering changing its membership policy on gays. Boy Scouts membership fell by 6 percent last year, leaving it with nearly 2.5 million youth members and 960,000 adult members.

American Heritage Girls is an amazing Bible-based, service-based, Country-proud organization that is growing rapidly. In fact, Thursday evening (tonight) my house will be overrun by 24 young girls, plus a handful of mothers and mentors/leaders, who are having an extra Heritage Girls scrapbooking night. Needless to say, my boys and I are FLEEING during this gathering...
A friend of mine has his son in the local BSs Catholic chapter and his wife is involved as a volunteer too, and they told me there were no changes made that they could see.
No Kids showing up to be scouts telling the others that they are gay.
Those who are leading this institution, are currently working to manage the huge bad PR hit right now. They are trying to look as normal as possible and hoping americans would forget quickly. Their expectation would be that people would quickly accept the "new normal", and membership would jump right back.

So, do they now ask these underage boys what kind of sex they prefer on a checkbox next to preference of religion? Who are the people responsible for this decision?

I used to recommend it without reservation, but it is increasingly linked with DHS and FEMA, and suffers from creeping PC (they have their own "diversity oath" now). If the local squadron has a good, stand-up guy (or gal) at the top, it's probably going to be okay, but a parent needs to really do some research and not rely just on the rah-rah recruiting BS.
It's part of FedGov - which is neither disinterested nor benevolent - and thus requires some amount of caution.

Yes. Gay family members must be cast out. Employees fired. Memberships cancelled. This country needs an Inquisition! Only the right thinking ones allowed!

What it means is that 6% of Scouts and Scouters truly honor what the Scout Oath, Law, morals and principles mean...the rest? Not so much...they’ll even go so far as to denigrate and malign those who made a principled decision to leave...”true” Scouters those.
In our area, less boys are bridging from Cub Scouts into Boy Scouts...we have boys dropping out or taking on other activities rather than Boy Scouts...the losses will be greater than the gains over the next few years...attrition will take its toll.
