On Monday, Dr. Benjamin Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, said he and his family were targeted by the IRS in retribution for comments critical of Barack Obama, Newsmax reported.
According to Carson, audits and other harassment began in May or June of 2013, just a few months after his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast. Gradually, he added, the harassment expanded to include family members, associates, and his charitable endeavors.
“I’ve been quite — I would say astonished at the level of hostility that I have encountered,” he told Newsmax TV’s John Bachman.
“The IRS has investigated me. They said, ‘I want to look at your real estate holdings.’ There was nothing there. ‘Well, let’s expand to an entire [year], everything.’ There was nothing there. ‘Let’s do another year.’ Finally, after a few months, they went away. But they’ve come after my family, they’ve come after my friends, they’ve come after associates,” he added.
Until now, Newsmax said, Dr. Carson has shied away from tying the IRS actions to his criticism of Obama, but now he says Americans live “in a Gestapo age” even though they may not realize it.
He also said Congress has to step up to the plate and do its job.
“The reason we have divided government is if one branch of the government gets out of control, starts thinking they’re too big for their britches, you need to be able to have control,” he said.
…”We sit there and we say, ‘Oh this is horrible.’ But we don’t do anything. And see, that’s what I’m trying to get our congressional people, our lawmakers – they’ve got to get courage,” he said. “Because why would anybody who has an agenda to fundamentally change this nation, why would they stop if no one is opposing them?”
Carson also believes the retribution will continue, but promises he will not be forced into silence.
“The only reason that I haven’t shut up is because in Romans 8 it says ‘If God be for you, who can be against you?’ And I believe in that protection that God gives you,” he added.
Carson’s experience is “not that different from what many others are experiencing,” said GOP lawyer Cleta Mitchell. “It’s quite, quite troublesome and disturbing.”
“I have heard this same story over and over and over throughout the last year,” she said. “I cannot tell you how many donors to conservative organizations, people who have become active, have said ‘I was never audited until I started giving money to X conservative candidate or cause.’”
Outlaw...... one who functions out side the law.
Outside the law is without our Constitution.
If there is no law protecting the people, there is no law protecting the tyrannical despots
Until they have solid majorities. We need the Senate and as many GOPs as possible with as many of those being conservatives as possible.
Ben needs to get these people’s names, and post em. There needs to be faces and names put to these treasonous employees!!!!
Is Dr. Carson a resident of Maryland? He should publicly call out his senators and representatives, and move the heck out of Maryland.

The IRS WANTS this story spread wide and far.
They don't have enough agents to intimidate all of us so they hit on high profile people like Ben Carson as a way to keep the rest of us in line.
A former IRS agent told me this years ago - they LIKE the stories that make them look ‘thuggy’. Of course that was back in the day when the effort was merely to increase collection... Today it's to bully citizens who are NOT liberal. Today it's a boot grinding into the face of a human.
When the government fears the people, we have liberty

Ted Baxter in his usually condescending way dismissed Dr. Carson's experience and concerns out of hand as if he was just a bit paranoid and over-reacting by seeing boogeymen in the shadows. Baxter said there was "no way" this could become a pattern as we have a "strong system of checks and balances" in our government.
As is usual lately, O'Baxter is a fool 70% of the time and completely out of touch not only with "the folks" but with reality. He loves the sound of his own voice touting his lofty and often mistaken opinions. I notice even Dennis Miller is getting exasperated by his bloviating.
And no one, no one, will stop him - from doing whatever he wants. We may as well shred the Constitution now.
He says America is entering an age of authoritarianism that resembles exactly what the founders did everything they could do eliminate.
He is a strong and brave man. I wish he would run for office.

They claimed we owed $7,000 plus interest and penalty. It ended with nothing owed.
From reading articles, I know they audited a lot of individual Romney donors (which we are not), and of course, various individual conservatives like ourselves who donated to tea party groups or candidates. This current group at the top is the face of totalitarianism in our time, and will continue to use their powers to punish their opponents. They aren't simply the greater of two evils, they are a vastly improved, wholly unto their own, much greater evil than known before in this country.
