Initial jobless claims increase to 339,000

WASHINGTON -- Initial jobless claims rose last week, but remained at a level consistent with moderate labor market growth amid mixed signals recently about the strength of the economic recovery.

About 339,000 people applied for first-time unemployment benefits in the week ended Saturday, up from 331,000 the previous week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Economists had projected a slight decrease to 330,000. The weekly claims figure, a key labor market indicator, has settled in recent weeks to about 335,000 after the usual holiday season volatility. The four-week average rose 3,500 last week, to 336,750.

Economists say claims below 350,000 indicate moderate job creation. But labor market growth was sub-par in January and December, averaging just 94,000 net new jobs created, according to government data.

Federal calculators are programed to give them the numbers they are looking for if not they are discarted and new ones are purchased from reputable progressive marxists companies who know how to produce those lies

I can’t wait to see how FOX radio news spins this for Barry and the ‘RATS as being “good news”. When it drops it’s “good news”. When it increases, it’s “good news”. The liberals always get away with having it both ways.

They can tweak the numbers all they want but it’s obvious to so many Americans that our economy is still in bad shape and that many are still out of work. I’m tired of our great country being beaten down by the useless political class who spend us into debt, regulate our private industries to excess, and stiff us with the bills to pay for the mess they create in Washington and in our state capitals.

“339,000 more people liberated from job-lock.”

If people didn't have to work all day, they could do more shopping, and that would spur the economy....

They’ll blame it on the weather. The only problem with that is you can’t claim unemployment if you miss a day or two of work, in most states you have to be off 2 weeks or more.

“Man, I love coming to these Democrat baseball games.”

“Why? They charge you a hundred bucks for a ticket. You get mugged on your way to your seat. The homosexuals are having an orgy in the dugouts. No one ever pitches or bats or fields a ball. The players are paid to do nothing. The rules change every day. They don’t keep score because then someone might have to play. The spectators are stoned and think they’re at a movie. The umps rule based on how they feel. You call that baseball?”

“The popcorn’s free.”

Bingo! They’re free! Free from the drudgery of a work-a-day job.

I think the BLS needs to start calling it not “initial jobless claims”, but “newly freed citizens”.
