Tinder Hook-Ups Off the Hook Among Sochi Athletes
ABC News ^ | Feb 12, 2014 | Susan Donaldson James

Olympic-gold snowboarder Jamie Anderson confesses she and the other female athletes are checking out “a lot of cuties” in Sochi with the dating app Tinder, according to US magazine.

The 23-year-old from Lake Tahoe, Calif., said matchmaking has reached new levels in the Olympic Village.

“Tinder in the Olympic Village is next level,” she told US. “It’s all athletes! In the mountain village it’s all athletes. It’s hilarious. There are some cuties on there.”

But, she warns, the preoccupation with Tinder can be “way too distracting,” so she deleted her account.

And it seems to have paid off. Anderson clinched gold in the women’s slopestyle event on Feb. 9.

If the Russians accuse Jamie Anderson of any crime, I want to say in advance that she is definitely NOT GUILTY.

The Interweb is awash with stories of how each Olympiad sets a new record for condom use over a two-week period.

Two weeks at the Olympics hardly compares with most European resort towns during the summer. The town of Lutjenburg (between Kiel and Lubeck), for example, had the greatest per capita concentration of newly-divorced women that I have ever seen.

In Air Force parlance, it was a target-rich environment.

The world throws a great party every four years for the most excellent physical specimens to hook up. There’s something so tribal about it. I state that with humor, not malice.

“It’s like making the ingredients of a huge stew — a stew of sexual ingredients,” said Dr. Judy Kuriansky, a sex therapist and clinical psychologist at Columbia University’s Teachers College in New York City.

She didn't say it's a healthy stew.

Being a geezer is hell, the desire is there but not
much of anything else, including women.

A Teachers' College needs a Sex Therapist on staff WHY exactly?

Yeah but, in our pagan/tribal past, the idea was ideal reproduction.

These optimized physical specimens are not going to breed anything other than pathogens.

Owwwww.

I’ve heard the same. I get it, but at the same time, it seems crazy that so much work goes into getting there that all focus would be on competing. I also know from competitive sports on a much lower level that those who work hard generally play hard, too.

And just think. A few days ago I had to explain why the US Hockey team stayed in the Olympic Village rather than fancy hotels. I never got Olympic good but I was good enough back in the day (snowboarding, I grew up in Tahoe) to taste the fruits of near Olympic success.
