McConnell’s bring-it-on moment (yeah, after nobody else would give him cover!)

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) delivered a message to Tea Party critics when he cast a decisive vote Wednesday that led to Senate passage of a debt ceiling hike: Bring it on.

In perhaps his most defining moment in the 113th Congress, McConnell strode up to the dais and declared his “aye” vote in a clear voice heard throughout the chamber. It broke the impasse and seven more Republicans soon voted as well to end the filibuster.

It was a risky decision for McConnell, who is facing a difficult primary battle from businessman Matt Bevin, a conservative backed by Tea Party groups. McConnell’s vote broke a filibuster by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) that was backed by the Club for Growth, which helped defeat former Sens. Bob Bennett (Utah) and Dick Lugar (Ind.) in Republican primaries in 2010 and 2012 but has stayed out of McConnell’s race so far.

His colleagues hoped Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), a centrist Republican, would provide the needed 60th vote but Murkowski refused unless the GOP leadership team joined her, according to a source who was on the floor during the standoff.

Supporters of McConnell inside and outside the Senate said it was a moment of real leadership for the longtime Kentucky senator, who over the past year has voted more often than now with Tea Party groups as he readied for the tough primary challenge.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

What exactly took him an hour to vote AYE! "in a clear voice"??

Why were all votes cast silently instead of the usual, loud, call out manner??

Please!! They're trying to put shine on a sneaker in this story. McConnell wanted to vote no but have the bill advance anyway. And those he was trying to strong-arm were saying to him "no way buddy! You first!"

If it was the right thing to do, he wouldn’t have waited 30 minutes to bravely stride down to the dais. The fool was waiting for it to happen without his help so he could maintain his fiction.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), a centrist Republican"

QUICK! Somebody call Sir Richard Attenborough! The MSM has discovered a new species! Me thinks we shall be hearing much about them in the days to come.

If it was the right thing to do, he wouldn’t have waited 30 minutes to bravely stride down to the dais.

And he also wouldn't have prevented the votes from being read on the Senate floor as they were made. A few of the gang of 12 voted against cloture before they were strong-armed to vote for it to provide cover for McConnell and Cornyn.

The debt ceiling vote and the complete capitulation of the senate republicans, led by McConnell, should serve as a final wake-up call for any conservative party loyalist that hasn’t been jolted awake from previous misdeeds. The traitorous RINOs have to go. Period.

Only DC insiders can think and write this way.
McConnells “Bring it on moment” took a long hour to develop.
And was done in the shadows
Amazing what one brave conservative with a filibuster did by exposing
the RINO’s in a way that we have never seen before.

Thank you Ted Cruz.

"“He’s an easy target for some because he’s not afraid to take positions.”

Al Cross, a political commentator and professor of journalism at the University of Kentucky, said McConnell wants to “squash” those groups “like a bug.”"

Mitch is a weaselly 'rat.

OK, now that we stuck a finger in the kings eye, we have to ensure we take him out. Donate to anyone running against him, even if it ends up being the dem.

I am facing a double knee replacement, but I swear, I will crawl if I have to, in order to prevent this POS from winning the primary.

McConnell deserves to be crushed by Bevin in the primary with the help of the TEA Party that he hates!

Bravo. Hopefully your fellow Kentukians think the same way.

Bravely bold Sir Mitchell
Rode forth from Washington
He was not afraid to lose
Oh Brave Sir Mitchell
He was not at all afraid to be unelected in nasty ways
Brave, Brave, Brave Brave Sir Mitchell.

Brave Sir Mitchell ran away.
Bravely ran away, away.
When danger rears it’s ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes Brave Sir Mitchell turned about
He gallantly chickened out.

Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat.
Oh bravest of the brave, Sir Mitchell.

I don’t believe Murky was the only one, I think Collins refused too.
.
Tweeted during the vote:
“Claire McCaskill clairecmc·Feb 12
Only 3 Rs so far willing to avoid the default of America on its obligations. “

Who is lying, McCaskill or The Hill? Tough choice...
