Yes, she really said that. Wendy Davis: "Texas is not really a red state"

Wendy Davis's quixotic campaign for Texas governor is getting more and more like some awful reality show, where everything goes wrong and the candidate can't help making gaffe after gaffe.

Wendy's latest jaw dropper: Texas isn't really a red state.

Washington Examiner:

Wendy Davis told the Austin American-Statesman newspaper on Wednesday that "Texas is not really a red state, it's just a non-voting state."

Sure Wendy, sure.

Well, she is right about Texas being a non-voting state. Texas is one of the worst performers when it comes to voter turnout. In 2010, just 36.4 percent of registered voters actually voted, making it the worst state for turnout. In 2012, Texas ranked 48th in voter turnout, according to a report from the University of Texas at Austin.

In fact, Texas has had lower voter turnout rates than the national average since 1972.

But does that also mean the state isn't red?

The area where I saw the result of the wild hogs, is not very distant from Humblegunner’s area.

They've been trimmed back some, but in the fall they were all up and down
FM1485 tearing up property. Looked like a team of crack heads with roto-tillers
had gone wild. Ditches, yards, even tore up a few fences. They operate mostly west of the river.

They are coming out of the Lake Houston Wilderness Preserve which is on the other side of the river from my 'hood.

When the river is low enough, it is possible to cross
over on a 4-wheeler. Just as an academic exercise, you see.
(Just upstream of the sandbar where it gets narrow)

One might even be able to locate some pigs over there.
Those river bottom pigs are some good eating. Now, folks
aren't supposed to hunt over there because it's government
land and all, but if one were to channel Robin Hood and think
of those pigs as the "King's pigs".. why, it's almost a duty to harvest a few.

Besides, the "King" is a Muslim and has no use for pigs anyway.

Someone asked Wendy why she has TGIF written on all her shoes. She said to remind her ‘toes go in first’ - I know old joke but applies to her.

It was in the fall I saw the destruction on the man's property. Behind his house, still his yard, one could walk a bit and there was the river below his property so I think you are on the other side of that river from where I was.

When I got home, I actually looked up your address on a map to see where you were compared to where I had gone.

I had not been to that area so it was new to me. From 59, I went east on 1485 about 10 miles and turned right on Kingwood Dr. and went 2+ more miles to that house in a gated subdivision. I went to that house to see an atrium attached to the house, that is two stories tall with all kinds of exotic plants. I saw the machinery it takes to keep the atmosphere in that atrium where it needs to be to support all those plants and trees in there. That is an expensive operation.

The man who owns that house does not have a handgun or rifle (a Texan without a firearm). If I had those wild pigs around my house, you bet I would get rid of them and ship them to JRandomFreeper, the chef Freeper and give you some to barbecue.

Thanks for the hard numbers. The modern republican party stands for nothing. Look at how they’re throwing Brewer under the bus. I don’t know what to do except pray for wisdom.
