I drive by that solar plant at least once a month. I think it looks neat. It takes up little room considering how much desert is out this way. There is not that much wildlife out here compared to more humid climates. The desert itself is an eyesore if you are used to living somewhere where it is green or an ocean is near. It is built with private money according to the article. So why knock it.
There has to be government money involved, because, as an investment, this thing is as big a financial boondoggle as Social Security.
At this time “alternative energy” makes no economic sense. It cannot survive as a business without some type of financial incentive provided by, who else? The taxpayers.
First, the obligatory observation that once again, the lib utopia has completely ignored or otherwise not anticipated the inevitable consequences. Short-term gratification with no regard for potential ramifications. Between the huge body of evidence that lib good intentions inevitably end up causing more damage than they fix, and the Haidt study showing how lib thinking is not the equal of conservative thinking, I suggest that there may be the groundwork for a justification for excluding anyone with a liberal bent from ever participating in national politics.
Second, on another thread here about this very generation plant, didn’t someone say the libs barred OHV usage of this area specifically to “preserve” the desert wildlife, only to install this gigantic bird cooker?
Has anyone calculated the cost of keepint those 300,000 mirrors focused on the big matchstick. What is going to be the cost of maintaining 300,000 motors as well as picking up and discarding all those birds.
Screw the birds! Let the solar plant rip!
Any body who worries about a few dead birds forget about the fish that get chewed up by the props of the millions of ships. Also, don’t forget road kill!
You are right. I did research and there was Gov. money. I should now better than think a modern day article is accurate.
Thanks for the reply.
Are you saying this boondoggle is not subsidized?
