ObamaCare patients with serious pre-existing diseases could face expensive drug costs (NOT covered)

People with serious pre-existing diseases, precisely those the president aimed to help with ObamaCare, could find themselves paying for expensive drug treatments with no help from the health care exchanges.

Dr. Scott Gottlieb of the American Enterprise Institute explains,"if the medicine that you need isn't on that list, it's not covered at all. You have to pay completely out of pocket to get that medicine, and the money you spend doesn't count against your deductible, and it doesn't count against your out of pocket limits, so you're basically on your own."

The plan had claimed it would rescue those with serious pre-existing conditions.

"So it could be that a MS patient could be expected to pay $62,000 just for one medication," says Dr. Daniel Kantor, who treats MS patients and others with neurological conditions near Jacksonville, Florida. "That’s a possiblity under the new ObamaCare going on right now."

A pharmacist told us one of my wife’s prescriptions was going to jump from $8 (generic) to $91 because of 0 Care yesterday! Talk about making your blood boil. Its not like my income hasn’t been slashed enough because of his economic policies and his devaluation of the dollar hasn’t caused food prices to rise like crazy. The man has no empathy for others whatsoever and is a narcissist Marxist from the pit of hell (there, now I feel better...: )

Under Obamadon’tcare, there are no preexisting conditions. There is equality (except for unions and they are more equal)

The unavailable drugs are equally unavailable to patients that are diagnosed after signing up.

I hope a lot of former Obamacare supporters are kicking themselves good and hard now for being so dumb. Usually a bill like this has to at least give the appearance of helping for a few years before its deception is revealed.

There are Obamacare issues even if you have HIV/AIDS - one example is in Louisiana:

http://tea512.sunpride2000.com/2014/02/08/hivaids-in-louisiana-not-covered-by-obamacare/

And .......

“More than two months after the launch of health law’s private insurance markets, Americans with pre-existing conditions like HIV are discovering that some of the policies being sold through Obamacare’s new insurance exchanges do not cover commonly prescribed medications for their disease and require much higher out-of-pocket spending than for other drugs.”

I heard those jumps to generic drugs were happening, but hadn’t heard anything firsthand.

I think there a quite a few of us on generic drugs which are costing us only a few dollars a month and are now facing this debacle.

"Those Democrats leering over my shoulder owe me bigtime.
The healthcare bill insures we get a permanent Democratic majority."

" All except those Tea Party types, swallowed hook, line and sinker my promises that they could:

(1) keep their existing health plans,
(2) keep their own doctors that they like,
(3) keep their 25-year-olds on the family health plan,
(4) never be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition,
(5) sign up instantly on my tech-savvy government Web site,
(6) buy insurance only after becoming seriously ill."
(7) save $2,500 in annual premiums in the bargain....
(8) All without any new taxes."

"Them sonovagun Tea Partiers will rue the day they criticized my wonderful bill."

REMINDER: Lock-stepping Democrats voted for all of this: (1) throwing you off your affordable health plans, (2) nationalizing 1/16 of the US economy, (3) abandoning the chronically ill, (4) IPAB's (Death Panels), and, (5) decimating intergenerational transfers of wealth.

BACKSTORY As far back as 2008, at the presidential debate in Nashville, Democrat candidate Obama smilingly campaigned on the glories of his signature healthcare plan---ultimately enacted, by an historic straight Democrat party-line vote, into the "Affordable Care Act"

QUOTING 2008 OBAMA: "No. 1, let me just repeat, if you’ve got a health care plan that you like, you can keep it. All I’m going to do is help you to lower the premiums on it. You’ll still have choice of doctor.” Repeated over and over ---- with the promise that every American family would be saving $2500.00 on healthcare costs.

Significantly, Obamba NEVER corrected lock-stepping Democrats, all reading from the same Democrat talking points, all of them repeating the same Democrat promises---over and over again.

LOCK-STEPPING PARTY LOYALTY NOT SEEN SINCE 1930- 40's ERA EUROPE Obama And The Dems marched in lockstep. The persistent Dumbocrat drumbeat ---- in obeisance to Obama ---- kept ringing reassuringly in our ears: "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan."

==================================================

Ominous cogs in the Obamacare meat grinder----the inexorable forcing of Grandma/pa onto Medicaid--(like cattle herded single-file onto the narrow ramp---knowing the bolt is coming---but not able to do a thing about it). Medicaid conveniently groups together the sick and elderly---as Obama's IPAB board of radicals sit in judgment. Boobamba's Orwellian-speak---the progressive way of saying "Obamacare keeps costs down."

The infamous "Death Panels---are alive and well----but they're not called death panels......for obvious reasons. The treacherous Obama euphemistically calls his death panel "I-PAB----Individual Payment Advisory Board." I-PAB decides what to pay and who to pay---thus rationing medical care to sick oldsters. Obamacare "allows" states to expand their Medicaid recipients pool. Under Obamacare, Washington now covers about 1/2 the cost of Medicaid enrollees.

==================================================

What is I-PAB?

When you find out about IPAB, you will not believe it - but it’s r-e-a-l.... a new type of government agency. IPAB (Independent Payment Advisory Board) is the first agency of the “fifth branch” of govt.

1) It will make all important health care decisions by authorizing payment or not.
2) It is not funded by Congress and cannot have its budget reviewed or changed.
3) Its membership cannot be changed by future Presidents,
4) It cannot be repealed by Congress, except for a six month window in 2017.
5) Its decisions are not subject to judicial review.
6) It is not authorized by the Constitution, and is therefore immune to Constitutional processes.

==================================================

Why is Obamacre herding seniors WITH ASSETS onto Medicaid---a program structured for the poor? Can you say redistribution of wealth? Herding the elderly with assets into Medicaid has ominous consequences that are intriguing to the left. B/c assets, perhaps a home owned free and clear, securities, annuities, investment property, can be seized to pay for govt treatment.

Thus intergenerational transfers of wealth (a longtime progressive bugaboo)----are decimated (grandma/pa's holdings go to the govt---not to you).

FACTS ON FILE --- Democrats' O/Care protection racket up close.

<><> Obama has issued alnost 30 executive orders to unilaterally change his precious healthcare law.

<><> The Republican House majority has passed over 30 different bills amending or replacing O/Care.

<><> Sen Harry Reid is the roadblock preventing O/Care amendments from reaching the lock-stepping Democrat-controlled US Senate.

ObamaCARE is about taking MONEY, not about
providing healthcare.

That is why it is ONLY for non-Muslims, and the non-EXEMPT.

You are absolutely correct! Thanks for making that point. I was just thinking about that later. Too bad the author of the article didn't make that point.

Democrat donors' products get on the list, and Republican donors' products do not, how much you want to bet?

I take Crestor every other day, no generic available. For 15 pills per month, my bill used to be $20.00. I found that to be high, but now all that has changed.....

Went to pick up my prescription the other day and was told for 15 pills the cost was $91.63 under my “new and improved” health insurance plan. I told the pharmacist to go ahead and put it back on his shelves. No way I’m paying that much.

The people who are most affected are lupus and MS patients whose meds can cost over $60k/yr. They simply have to forego treatment.

Hell, most of the obamacare plans won’t pay for ANY medicine or medical care at all until AFTER $6,300.00 per person has been shelled out every year for medical care.

After that, they frequently won’t pay for the care you actually need, and you won’t be able to find a doctor or even a hospital within a couple of hour’s drive because the networks are so limited.

Basically, obamacare policies are nothing more than glorified catastrophic insurance with Medicaid-like provider networks.

Yes, I understand this is devastating to Lupus and MS patients. Sorry, I was just venting my frustration.

$62,000 for one drug? One of the many major things obamacare did NOT do was tort reform which would lower drug costs. Stop the stupid lawsuits and drug costs would drop down to Mexican and Canadian levels.

All the drug companies backed obama and his “care”. But they didn’t get their most expensive drugs covered? Guess they got screwed along with the sick people.
