How would the air valve lodge in the buttocks unless one’s buttocks was not clothed? I’ve known a lot of people had to deal with air valves, never one that got it “accidently” caught in their crack.

How horrible! I’m amazed the guy lived, to be honest. You’d think some of that air would have gotten into his veins and arteries.
