Posted on 02/16/2014 8:33:36 PM PST by CondorFlight
At 5:00pm Pacific Time, Ethiopian Flight 702, a Boeing 767-300 was flying over Sudan when it started squawking 7500. The transponder code, is supposed to indicate a hijacking.
The flight, operating from Addis Abba to Rome has been confirmed by Rome Airport not to have arrived yet. As of now, it is over France, but has recently taken a steep northeast heading.
Based on flight tracking, it appears the plane is headed to Geneva. Emergency crews are standing by.

is it on the ground in Geneva or Rome?
How accurate is flightradar? Shows it northeast of the airport on the Swiss/French border
If this is real, why is it not on the news sites?
On the bright side, no fuel equals not fire.
now it looks like it is trying to turn downwind for approach
Pilots heard on radio stating they will be exiting via the aircraft flight deck window.
QY6915 was just diverted away from Geneva.
Do you mean zero altitude? I saw that on the screen, hopefully they’ve landed and not crashed.
The pilot possibly has gone out the cockpit window.
All the news that fits? I don’t really know. Blackout? Holiday weekend?
OK, looks like the image keeps moving after it initially stopped. I suppose the image will catch up to reality at some point.
I pulled up a Swiss TV channel and they were talking about the Olympics
Quiet now. we will see.
That would be a newsworthy picture
Comment in expressjetpilots.com thread:
Landed in Geneva. Making them hold on the taxiway until authorities arrive.
Not sure about the trust worthiness of the telemetry, but it keeps turning left away from the runway approach, then almost in a wing down slip in the direction of the runway, then another vector left.
