When you give libs the Oval Office: Presidents-Day apt reminder of how far-left nation has veered
The Washington Times ^ | February 14, 2014 | Robert Knight

On Presidents Day, we honor those men who helped start and guide our nation. Their leadership got us through the American Revolution, the Civil War, the Great Depression, two world wars and the Cold War.

Until recently, they all seemed to understand what makes America exceptional. But now, we’re not in Kansas anymore.

You know that clever ad by a satellite-dish company that shows what happens to a man who gets bored waiting for the cable guy?

As with the children’s books that began with “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie,” the man endures a series of mishaps, the final one showing his elderly dad getting punched over a can of soup during a riot. The tagline is, “Don’t let your dad get punched over a can of soup.”

It’s a perfect analogy to the spiraling tyranny of centralized mismanagement epitomized by Obamacare and other rogue federal programs under President Obama. Here’s how it goes:

If you don’t bother to pay attention or even vote, you get a liberal in the White House and a bunch of them in Congress. When you get liberals in power, you get bad laws. When you have bad laws, you need penalties to ensure compliance. When you have more penalties, you need more enforcers. When you have more enforcers, you lose your freedom to run your business. When you can’t run your business, you lay off people.

When you lay off people, they go on welfare and food stamps. When they go on welfare and food stamps, they vote for lawmakers who will give them more free stuff....

It’s not just left. It’s completely off the tracks.

Better stated, primaries have consequences.

It’s not just left. It’s completely off the tracks.

Yes, it is. This passed the left/right dichotomy long ago. The issue here is with a group of political operatives that have assumed increasingly authoritarian ways because they have been effectively unopposed. More precisely, their real opposition has been replaced by a group of supposed opponents who are equally elitist, equally authoritarian, equally ruling-class. These were charged with controlling this insane drive to power and have failed their charge.

There is, on the one hand, a group of "loyal opposition" that have proven far more loyal than oppositional. The degree to which the current Republican elite have carried water for this authoritarian takeover is the degree of their betrayal of their country.

There is, as well, a class of journalists too drunk with their newfound power to pursue their own mission of a check to authority, instead being perfectly happy to abet it. These too have failed their charge.

What remains is not left/right, it is authoritarian versus freedom. What remains is a ruling class that is not content to request nor even to demand, it will be satisfied with nothing less than to command. The nation hasn't veered anywhere, its political classes have.

Time, I think, for a dose of humility, and pray that it may be administered short of violence, but in the words of John Parker, if they mean to have a war, let it begin here.

Obama is a Marxist/fascist. He’d love nothing better than to use government power to purge his opponents. In fact, he’s already doing it. He’s not just a Marxist. He’s a Stalinist.

They say it can’t happen here. We’ve got checks and balances.

But it is.

And no one in government seems to have a clue about how to stop it. Or as you say, maybe they don’t want to stop it.

Hitler took over without firing a shot. They just failed to stop him.

This is SO wrong. I am damn sick and tired of the media promoting this holiday as “President’s day” as if ALL presidents were meant to be included. Hell can freeze over before I’d honor Slick Willy and O’Butthead.

The holiday is STILL officially in commemoration of George Washington’s birthday.

This holiday is technically and legally still called “WASHINGTON’S BIRTHDAY”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_holidays_in_the_United_States

Lincoln’s birthday wasn’t a Federal Holiday, but honored in most states. So for a time retailers pushed that it was to honor both men. But of course they are “dead white men, one of whom owned slaves” -— so nnooooooooooooooo....can’t have that in PC America. So the retailers and ignorant people have been pushing it’s to honor “all Presidents” so as to include their sick Demo heroes. Well, it isn’t and don’t encourage that thinking.

I agree w/ your assessment "This passed the left/right dichotomy long ago".

One need only look at the enemies arrayed against the Tea Party to understand the challenges that confront us:

The political elite of both parties

The national media (including the WSJ)

Wall Street & big banks

Multinational corporations

AFL-CIO

The UN

The IMF

The National Chamber of Commerce

Their means to force compliance is the IRS and other fed regulatory agencies. and they will use bread & circuses to keep the mob docile.

Whether free men can break through this phalanx of control is the story of our time. Our Republic depends upon it.
