Lech Walesa: Obama 'Wasn't Ready' to Be a World Leader
NewsMax ^ | 02/16/2014 | John Bachman and Jim Meyers

Posted on 02/17/2014 5:45:44 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Anti-communist crusader and former president of Poland Lech Walesa tells Newsmax that of all the national leaders currently on the world stage, the one who has "disillusioned" him the most is President Barack Obama.

Walesa also asserts that Obama "wasn't ready" to take on the task of leading the world's most dominant superpower.

And he calls for reforms at the United Nations so the world body can help fill the vacuum left by the United States' failure of leadership under Obama.

Walesa played a key role in freeing Eastern Europe from the clutches of Soviet communism and ultimately in the breakup of the U.S.S.R.

In 1980, he co-founded Solidarity, the Soviet bloc's first independent trade union. Later in that decade he helped form the first non-communist government in the Soviet bloc, beginning the downfall of communism in Europe.

Walesa won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983, and served as Poland's president from 1990 to 1995. Today he heads the Lech Walesa Institute.

As for his views on Obama, Walesa declares: "Personally, I feel that two politicians disillusioned me the most — myself and President Obama. I prefer to skip talking about myself, but let's discuss why Obama has been such a disappointment.

"When he was elected, everyone hoped and expected that he would reform not only the United States but also the rest of the world. But he failed to implement any constructive reforms. Moreover, it seems like perhaps he doesn't even care if America is still perceived as the superpower it once was."

He added, with tongue slightly in cheek: "If that's the case and if the U.S. doesn't really want to be a superpower anymore, I'd say let Poland take over that leadership and we'd take care of the rest. I promise you, we'd know what to do."

Yesterday there was a thread concerning the city of Baltimore and a blog which had evidently gone viral to the effect that a woman living in that city was tired of being regarded as "prey" by African-Americans. The blog went viral and the response on FreeRepublic was large and very unflattering to the African-American "community." I venture that millions of Americans have become very disillusioned with the role of African-Americans and their disproportionate criminality, bastardy, drug abuse, and dependency. Shorthand: these symptoms constitute a real social pathology which infects virtually every American inner-city.

Europeans, and to my knowledge Germans, are utterly unaware of the racial problems in America. In Europe if you want to go to the best places you go to the center of town but in America if you want to put your life at risk you enter the inner-city. There is no understanding of this in Europe. Europeans, and again to my knowledge Germans, draw their entire understanding of America from television and movies in which the African-American is always portrayed either as the stalwart companion of the hero, the hero himself, or the brutally oppressed victim of white racism. They have no other frame of reference.

To understand Germany think of American suburbs but without talk radio as a place wholly condition by left-wing news sources. Consider it as a place where your children go to school wholly indoctrinated with green values and progressive notions. As a result of this conditioning, German society across the nation is a replay of places like the bedroom suburbs of New York City. Hence there is almost unanimous opposition to the death penalty, to the idea of the right to bear arms, to the notion that free speech can be offensive and, to be of use to those who seek to preserve liberty, it must be offensive.

In sum, Germans think the way nice suburban, educated, Ernest, well-intentioned Americans of the progressive stripe think and that is because they are not exposed to the other side of the story. One very big reason for that, of course, is because of the peculiar history of Germany in the so-called "Hitler time."

Part of what the Germans believe can be encapsulated in the expression "cowboy." When I was first exposed to the Germans use of the word, "cowboy" I was utterly confused because it was always use pejoratively and I, growing up exposed to the American myth, regarding cowboys as exemplars of individual liberty and noble creatures. This is not the perception in Europe. In Europe a cowboy is a loose cannon, a dangerous renegade who is liable to cause ruin for all. When they describe George Bush as a "cowboy" I thought they were referring to his Texas roots, his Texas twang, his good old boy camaraderie but that was a false assumption.

They were extremely wary of George Bush because they saw him as a Christian, therefore ignorant and liable to fling the world into war because anyone stupid enough to believe the Bible is stupid enough to make gross mistakes.

The grossest mistake that Europeans will cite in the last generation is the invasion of Iraq with Afghanistan thrown in for good measure. When George Bush invaded Iraq, I could find no one of my acquaintance here in Germany who supported that war. To the contrary, Bush's role in making war in Iraq confirmed every suspicion Germans ever held about an American cowboy who was a Christian.

Then along came Obama, the video Idol served up to Germans by American television playing the role of the hero or the trustworthy sidekick, telling the Europeans what they were eager to hear and criticizing the war in Iraq.

So Bush played to every negative stereotype and Obama played to every positive stereotype and the Germans, at least concerning America, had nothing to go on except left-wing stereotypes.

Love Lech! How I followed the Solidarity Movement in the late 70s/80s! Such excitement when I thought that communism was finally being buried alive. And then it came to my own country...it’s like a disease without a vaccination.

And he never will be.

I disagree.

It’s the cult of personality thing. Obama is bulletproof. He can do anything he wants and because he is black, everyone is afraid of criticizing him for fear of being called a racist.

The team that created Obama should be complimented. After 40 years of positioning themselves throughout the government where they would get to control every facet of society, they needed one more piece to the puzzle and Obama was it. People like Condi and Colin were way too intelligent and people like Jesse and Al were way too stupid. Plus none of them were manufactured.

And they did it knowing full well that we had the guns. So now they are depleting the ammo. Brilliant. And frightening.

"But who knows? Maybe there is still a chance that he will suddenly snap out of it and change his way of thinking."

I don't think Obama will "snap out of it." Rather, he will make a last ditch effort to corral the world into the marxist paradise his ilk have been yammering about for the last century.

And he will promptly fall on his skinny half-white @$$.

Obama is not a world leader; he sits in a place where one expects to find a world leader but is nothing more than the court jester. I mean honest to God, when he speaks you can see he is and has been overwhelmed by the Presidency. No President ever has done the despicable things this guy has done. Lincoln freed the slaves he has created a whole new class of slaves and done think for a second it is not a very diverse group with all races included.

Good morning.

Obama is a dangerous radical. He wants to transform America which means that he wants to undo our constitutional system, eliminate capitalism, and impose his version of social justice. Internationally, he is quite happy to have diminished America's role in the world which Walesa quite accurately describes. That is because Obama as a radical leftist, and anti-imperialist, a sympathizer of expansive Islam, who knows that America is the greatest obstacle to the worldwide spread of his radical ambitions.

Thought that needed repeating for the naïve who happen upon FR from time to time.

If Barry wasn’t thrust into positions of power by men behind the scenes today he would be a bathroom attendant.

World leader? I would not have hired Obama as a custodian, a clerk, or for any other role. He’s one of the few people for whom I approve of lifelong welfare benefits - it would be well worth it to pay him generously if he would never again attempt to do anything that affects our economy.

“when he speaks you can see he is and has been overwhelmed by the Presidency”

Yes, I’ve seen in his eyes a certain look of fear. The fear of being suddenly exposed to the light of day. Yet there he is, going before the cameras and microphones every other day. What a tool!

Did any of you read this?

>>”Reforming the United Nations should be “President Obama’s initiative,” Walesa opines.

“We need to reform this old organization,” he says. “Better yet, transform it into the global parliament. Transfer the power of the Security Council to the global government.

“NATO should also be changed into the ministry of the global defense. Then we could have a big banner announcing: ‘We, the generation of the 21st century, won’t tolerate the following crimes against humanity: racism, anti-Semitism, ethnic cleansing, etc.’ Should any nation break these rules, the new organization would take care of that.

“We would elect leaders for each sector who would be responsible for maintaining order. In my mind, these kinds of actions and initiatives are expected from the United States. They have always been the savior and the last hope for the world. Unfortunately, it feels now like we’ve lost that sense of hope and that’s very unsettling.”<<

Walesa is a damn imbecile. People should think twice before they quote him or try to use his name in any positive way.
