According to 2009 data from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 41 percent of all births were to unmarried women. The percentage has risen steadily since at least 1980... In 1980, it stood at 18.4 percent. By 1990, it was 28.0 percent. And by 2000 it was 33.2 percent. In 2009, 17 percent of births to Asian-Pacific Islanders were out of wedlock, with non-Hispanic whites at 29 percent, 53 percent for Hispanics, 65 percent for American Indians and Native Alaskans and 73 percent for non-Hispanic blacks.
These stark numbers reveal far more about the rapid state of decay within a society than GDP or employment data. In effect, they tell us of the disintegration in the moral vision of a people who have tossed aside the old restraints, eschewing the traditional moral appeals of praise and blame while losing faith in an institution that has been the wellspring of American virtue... Strong intact families, all things being equal, have generally provided the foundation for nurturing opportunities that translate ultimately into individual success, as well as fostering the generational continuity of a salutary institution that is fundamentally anchored in divine revelation by virtue of natural design...

I do juvenile delinquency defense in a fairly affluent suburban community. Most of the kids I represent come from some sort of single parent arrangement. Either never married with no guidance, or divorced.
Getting a divorce sends kids off the deep end. Not always, but it sure does increase the chances.

Ever since the days of LBJ (”The Great Society” we have followed the blueprint of the fall of Rome. This includes unmitigated immigration, higher taxes, promoting sexual promiscuity in all deviant forms, more entitlement programs for the perpetual poor and a general lawlessness and turning away from God as a society. Rome didn’t fall over night. It took about 70 years of legislative mayhem to bring down one of the greatest empires in history. We have at most 19 years to follow their example but probably much less.

We have all kinds of Indians in rural Alaska. In some villages girls are having kids at age 12, most are raised by an aunt as their own. Indians see babies as a good thing, grows village, most of which have suffered population loss from alcoholism and cultural pressures caused by our dominant White Culture. At least they never abort them, which would be a cultural no no. Most villages have suffered under the Govt money based economy which started in the 60’s. Indians figure they got a good thing going with the feds as they continue on their path to extinction. Sad cause they really are a good bunch when you get to know and respect their ways.
The Court held in Gomez that the bastardy laws of all 50 states were unconstitutional violations of the Fourteenth Amendment, and that, specifically, an unmarried man and the slut he allegedly impregnated were equivalent to a man and wife sealed in Holy Matrimony, as regards financial obligations.
This decision, together with no-fault unilateral divorce, ended traditional marriage in the United States.

At least it was a family, and God can fufil His purposes despite our failings.
Meanwhile even the Mafia today is suffering from the disintegration of the home in terms of discipline, loyalty, etc. Could even Germany have fought as they did if what passed for family today was the norm?

BOL, when our kids were in the 6th and 4th grade, a large % of the kids they knew, were children of divorces.
Our kids got upset when the weekend Daddies got their kids and took them to amusement parks and other adventures on the weekends. Our kids got to help us with our weekend chores and went to church with us on Sunday.
Thirty years later, many of those single parent kids have some really screwed up lives, which often started, when they were teenagers without a Dad in their home. Many are following their parents re divorces, shared parenthood and other problems.
Not only, but in contrast to ancient culture in which the family was the source of social/financial security, and thus both loyalty and security fostered committed marriage and family bonds, the socialist state supplies all, and thus fosters dependance on itself and subsidizes divorce, delinquency, etc..
And which, in deifying itself, never acknowledges dependance upon a Creator or gratitude to the same. And thus implicitly promotes the same godlessness.
And he was a Democrat!

In the 1950s/early 60s, Moynihan worked for the Department of Labor in Washington, DC. One of his employees was odd fellow named Ralph Nader.
One day, Nader entered Moynihan’s office and whispered, “Our phones are tapped; someone is listening in to our phone calls.”
Moynihan’s response was classic. “Don’t worry about it...nothing we do here is all that importaint, anyway.”
I chaperoned a High School Mission Trip at a Native American reservation in Oklahoma. I would agree with what you wrote.
