Chandler police say an argument between 25-year-old Kyle Wayne Quadlin(1) and 36-year-old Kriston Charles Belinte Chee(2) started at the service counter inside the store and quickly turned into a physical altercation.

Police believe the men didn't know each other.

Quadlin told officers he was losing the fight and "was in fear for his life," so he took out his gun and shot Chee.

He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

(1) Quadlin is an Anglo-Saxon name. The name was originally given to a fisherman. The surname Quadlin was originally derived from the Old English word Codling.

(2) The Anglo-Saxon name Chee comes from when the family resided in or near either of the settlements called Cheadle in the counties of Cheshire and Staffordshire. Chee belongs to the class of habitation names, which are derived from pre-existing names for towns, villages, parishes, or farmsteads. It is also a common Navajo name.

Believed to be the decedent, Kriston Charles Belinte Chee.

Seriously, if you participate in an argument, then participate in a physical altercation as a result of and then you pull out a gun and shoot .... I have a hard time finding that that is self defense or stand your ground.

If you have a CW, keep your head down and mouth shut. The only people you should be shooting are those threatening your life. If you participate or help escalate an argument to above and beyond to the point of shooting, then you’ve done something wrong.

Thank you for that onomastical treatise. Was there a point to it?

Yep. A CW is for when the perp wants to herd you into the back room.

“onomantical”.

Because both men had atypical names, of otherwise vague origins, with no available pictures except the one, likely but not certainly the decedent. The idea is perhaps to divine why two strangers get into a fight in a Walmart.

“The Anglo-Saxon name Chee comes from when the family resided in or near either of the settlements called Cheadle in the counties of Cheshire and Staffordshire.”

Kind of like ‘Jim Chee’?

Right. And you will go to jail. It is only self-defense if you had no part in starting the fight.

However, the news is propagating, and different sources are including other details. There was only one photo of a “Kriston Chee” on a Masonry & Hardscape website.

But a further search shows he has a criminal record in AZ for aggravated DUI.

"But a further search shows he has a criminal record in AZ for aggravated DUI."

I've always been a little fuzzy about the "aggravated" thing added to a crime. Does "aggravated DUI" mean he was driving drunk *and* angry?

"Don't drive angry!"

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
My grandson (15) was umpiring a baseball game last fall with the players being 10-12 with adult(??) coaches.

I was standing behind the screen watching and the Ump called a runner out at home and the 3rd base Coach/Mgr came charging down the line screaming at him..(he had been rowdy during the game) and got in his face.
I had earlier asked the coach for the opposing team if the guy always acted like an ass in front of the kids and he just shrugged his shoulders.

As he came running down the line the other coach was near and I asked him to ‘intervene’ if necessary. My daughter came down from the stands and I told her there was really nothing I could do until it got REAL bad.

Between the Ump(GS)and other Mgr, nothing seriously happened and the coach suggested the other guy leave and my GS with his back to the ‘attacker’ started sweeping off home plate and told the Coach -if he behaves, he can stay.

So in a sense he had a lot more sense than the other Manager.
They had a ‘hearing’ for the Coach/Mgr and my GS sort of ‘stood up’ for him.

It was real hard for me just to stand there and not even be ‘able’ to get in an argument....

But my GS knew/knows enough he can keep his ‘cool’ because he knows I ‘have his back’ if in the area.

It’s like they don’t want you to know or something. I had to read like four articles before I found one that said it was the one at Warner and Alma School. Yup, definitely the hood.
