Customary to campaign, Steve Stockman gimmicks poll and still comes up short (Stovall Press Release)
Pearland Journal ^ | 2/17/14 | STOVALL CAMPAIGN PRESS RELEASE

Posted on 02/17/2014 11:51:42 AM PST by jimbo123

Losing yet again to "Unsure," Rep. Steve Stockman released a poll that pitted only him against Sen. John Cornyn. Fewer than 800 were polled and Stockman finished behind "Unsure." These results mimic the results in a poll done by the Republican Leadership Council in his own district where he finished fourth, behind "Unsure." In that poll of 660 in Stockman's CD 36, all of the candidates for US Senate were available for selection, and Dwayne Stovall, as he has in ten straw polls to date, beat Cornyn and Stockman.

Stovall said in a statement: "Steve Stockman imagines that he's the only person running against John Cornyn, but the reality is that he's lost in every straw poll to date and he lost in this poll as well. He is not the candidate to beat John Cornyn. I am the only candidate to beat John Cornyn."

"The core problem is that Stockman has no organization. The man from Michigan hasn't traveled the State of Texas to earn the vote of Texans, and frankly, I hear that at almost every campaign stop where Stockman is mentioned that his behavior offends Texans. It's bad enough that John Cornyn takes our votes for granted, but Stockman simply has no right to expect our votes."

"Stockman said in a statement to Human Events that he thought he could 'find all the Cruz people and turn them out.' It might help him if he'd actually taken the time to meet the voters who helped Ted Cruz win his election."

"Texans want a Texan who will listen to them. Neither Stockman nor Cornyn do that. Infact, Stockman didn't listen to voters in his district when he had the opportunity to join Louie Gohmert and vote against Boehner to retain him as Speaker of the House.

“Unsure” must be stopped. Let’s dig up all the dirt we can on him/her.

Texans, support Steve Stockman. He’s one of the few people in DC who cares about the truth and isn’t afraid to speak it plainly.

I don’t make many endorsements, but Stockman is DEFINITELY worth endorsing.

Let’s first make sure Cornyn gets under 50%, that is the key issue.

OK, let me back up. I have not spoken to Stovall and don’t know anything about him. Texans, ask Stovall what HE would do if Arpaio’s Cold Case Posse wanted to present legal evidence of crimes committed to get Obama into office. Would he - like almost everybody else in DC - close his ears and pretend that the truth doesn’t matter? Or would he - like Stockman - listen and work to impeach Obama?

The answer to that question would tell me everything I needed to know about who to vote for in that primary. 2008 was literally a coup and until we get our country back it doesn’t even matter what Congress votes on, because Obama will do what he dang well pleases until somebody with balls stops him. Texans, you’ve done a great job of getting Cruz in there. Now get somebody with equal intestinal fortitude and we will all owe you a huge debt.

You need to stay out of it, since you aren't from Texas.

Stovall is getting my vote.

"Here's the blatant truth: a man who grew up in Michigan with ethics charges currently filed against him, who has no organization in Texas, and can't win any polls against John Cornyn is not the candidate for Texas. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ EXACTLY! And I can't understand why so many FReepers on this website are so freakin' in love with Stockman. Both times he "served" in Congress, he has been my Congressman and I am NOT voting for him. Last time I heard him interviewed on Radio Station KLVI in Beaumont, TX during his first stint in Congress, dude was freakin' drunk. Cornyn will unload all the dirt he has on Stockman until the run-off election. If he's such a great candidate and fundraiser, where are the Radio and TV ads. What is he doing with all the money that people have given to his campaign? All he is running his state-wide campaign with is Twitter, E-mails and a blog. Something ain't right here.

So, if he loses the primary I hope he’ll run as a spoiler as a 3rd party candidate. I would rather lose the seat then have the old leadership back in place.

Be careful what you wish for...the word is Stockman has some issues that Cornyn is sitting on until a run off happens.....I think Stovall would be the better choice of the two....I would however vote for Stockman over Cornyn!!

I don’t like the guy but if it’s Cornyn or the idiot democrat I’ll hold my nose and vote Cornyn. We don’t want the democrats thinking they have a shot at Texas or there will be billions of dummy dollars coming this way. Down here we put nothing ahead of stomping the stupid party.

You must know something the people in Texas don't know at this time.

Q. If the election for U.S. Senate Primary were held today, would you vote for Republican Steve Stockman or Republican John Cornyn?

Good question

And, since Texas gets a lot of our Federal Tax dollars, and their US reps vote on things affecting all Americans...these federal elections are all 50 state matters.

And, judging by a response you got...Stovall is not going to question Obama on Constitutional matters

If you like him, that’s good enough for me because I don’t live in TX.

Is there any way Stovall can win without going negative on his competition? If Stovall turns up the snark there’s a good chance he’ll never got the votes he needs to win the runoff. He could “Romney” himself.

Lieutenant Governor:

"Dirty" David Dewhurst
Jerry Patterson
Todd Staples
Dan "I Was Against Ted Cruz Before I Was For Him" Patrick

Obviously for me, it's between Jerry Patterson & Todd Staples. ...both excellent choices, I think.

When it goes to the runoff, it'll be just him and Cornyn, assuming it goes that far, and it doesn't matter if he goes negative. Texas politics is pretty bare-fisted.

There were some very tense radio interviews in which it was clear that Dan was supporting Dewhurst of Cruz for Senator, with Cruz calling him out on working w/ the Dewhurst campaign.

Now Patrick has endorsed Cruz fully, even for President 2016.

Dan now denies he ever supported Dewhurst of Cruz, but that's not the impression he gave back then.

Dan Patrick, who called Ted Cruz a fighter who wasn't getting facts straight in 2012, lately salutes senator's Reaganesque presidential potential

In June 2012, conservative Dan Patrick of Houston charged Ted Cruz with airing mistruths in his U.S. Senate bid against Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. Patrick, a Republican state senator, subsequently said he would vote for Dewhurst in the Dewhurst-Cruz primary runoff.

Todd Staples is running radio ads attacking Patrick for flip-flopping on his support for Cruz.

2 years ago I would agree with you. But I’ve given up on Rino Leadership. I want them out, totaly. It’s Rinos like them that keep holding conservatives back. Heck they’re even holding moderates back. They’re nothing but the right wing of the Liberal Party.

As for texas going blue, dude, that’s what the immigration bill the liberals want is all about and the GOP leadership *wants* to accept it.

That’s not true. The incumbent takes up a seat for 3-4 terms as Senator and 10+ terms as Congressman.

I would give up 6 years of a Rino seat and take a democrat then give the Rino 18-24 years as Senator or 20-24 years as Congressman.

I’m completely done with the GOP. Without a Tea Party blessing on my elected officials, I’m simply not voting for them and writing in Edwin Snowden.

In the middle of a coup, the two things they need are honesty and balls. Anybody who mocks or is afraid of this issue, given the evidence we currently have, has neither. IMHO.

One thing I worry about is electronic code being messed with. ‘Straight R’ pulls are the most susceptible to being mis- or discounted.

I think I’ll look for a libertarian dog-catcher or Water Works guy to vote for to be sure.

Yeah, hopes were dashed in '12 for sure.

Every indication was it would be Romney or at least very close.

..then the numbers came in, less Conservatives voted in '12 for Romney than they did for mecain with Sarah Palin.

If Romney had chosen a Conservative instead of a RINO running mate, he may have gotten the Conservative vote and beat Obama.

Who will the RNC & Republican Rino Leadership try to push upon us this time?
