Customary to campaign, Steve Stockman gimmicks poll and still comes up short (Stovall Press Release)
Pearland Journal ^ | 2/17/14 | STOVALL CAMPAIGN PRESS RELEASE

Posted on 02/17/2014 11:51:42 AM PST by jimbo123

Losing yet again to "Unsure," Rep. Steve Stockman released a poll that pitted only him against Sen. John Cornyn. Fewer than 800 were polled and Stockman finished behind "Unsure." These results mimic the results in a poll done by the Republican Leadership Council in his own district where he finished fourth, behind "Unsure." In that poll of 660 in Stockman's CD 36, all of the candidates for US Senate were available for selection, and Dwayne Stovall, as he has in ten straw polls to date, beat Cornyn and Stockman.

Stovall said in a statement: "Steve Stockman imagines that he's the only person running against John Cornyn, but the reality is that he's lost in every straw poll to date and he lost in this poll as well. He is not the candidate to beat John Cornyn. I am the only candidate to beat John Cornyn."

"The core problem is that Stockman has no organization. The man from Michigan hasn't traveled the State of Texas to earn the vote of Texans, and frankly, I hear that at almost every campaign stop where Stockman is mentioned that his behavior offends Texans. It's bad enough that John Cornyn takes our votes for granted, but Stockman simply has no right to expect our votes."

"Stockman said in a statement to Human Events that he thought he could 'find all the Cruz people and turn them out.' It might help him if he'd actually taken the time to meet the voters who helped Ted Cruz win his election."

"Texans want a Texan who will listen to them. Neither Stockman nor Cornyn do that. Infact, Stockman didn't listen to voters in his district when he had the opportunity to join Louie Gohmert and vote against Boehner to retain him as Speaker of the House.

Lieutenant Governor:

"Dirty" David Dewhurst
Jerry Patterson
Todd Staples
Dan "I Was Against Ted Cruz Before I Was For Him" Patrick

Obviously for me, it's between Jerry Patterson & Todd Staples. ...both excellent choices, I think.

Dan "I Was Against Ted Cruz Before I Was For Him" Patrick

Is that true?

When it goes to the runoff, it'll be just him and Cornyn, assuming it goes that far, and it doesn't matter if he goes negative. Texas politics is pretty bare-fisted.

Staples is more conservative than Patterson. Patterson failed to answer some of my questions. Either is better than Dewhurst.

There were some very tense radio interviews in which it was clear that Dan was supporting Dewhurst of Cruz for Senator, with Cruz calling him out on working w/ the Dewhurst campaign.

Now Patrick has endorsed Cruz fully, even for President 2016.

Dan now denies he ever supported Dewhurst of Cruz, but that's not the impression he gave back then.

Dan Patrick, who called Ted Cruz a fighter who wasn't getting facts straight in 2012, lately salutes senator's Reaganesque presidential potential

In June 2012, conservative Dan Patrick of Houston charged Ted Cruz with airing mistruths in his U.S. Senate bid against Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. Patrick, a Republican state senator, subsequently said he would vote for Dewhurst in the Dewhurst-Cruz primary runoff.

I like Dan most of the time, he's definitely a small government, low tax Conservative but I'm not gonna vote for him.

Todd Staples is running radio ads attacking Patrick for flip-flopping on his support for Cruz.

Corynyn is the target why waste ammo on other challengers?

I’d be suspicious of ANY poll that doesn’t show Corny in the lead. He’s going to get the most votes. The quest is to keep him below 50%.

I just want Cornyn to get under 50. That’s goal #1.

2 years ago I would agree with you. But I’ve given up on Rino Leadership. I want them out, totaly. It’s Rinos like them that keep holding conservatives back. Heck they’re even holding moderates back. They’re nothing but the right wing of the Liberal Party.

As for texas going blue, dude, that’s what the immigration bill the liberals want is all about and the GOP leadership *wants* to accept it.

That’s not true. The incumbent takes up a seat for 3-4 terms as Senator and 10+ terms as Congressman.

I would give up 6 years of a Rino seat and take a democrat then give the Rino 18-24 years as Senator or 20-24 years as Congressman.

I’m completely done with the GOP. Without a Tea Party blessing on my elected officials, I’m simply not voting for them and writing in Edwin Snowden.

Sorry, candidates need to have more going for them besides being birthers.

In the middle of a coup, the two things they need are honesty and balls. Anybody who mocks or is afraid of this issue, given the evidence we currently have, has neither. IMHO.

Re: Dan Patrick

I heard Mike Huckabee endorse Dan this morning in an ad.

...for what it's worth?

Have a good one.
