This morning, I had planned to get up and work on my book, What Women Want. After an Olympic moment, the Alphabet Soup news emerged like cockroaches in the darkness. It was a day that ends in y, I suppose, so they were bashing Ted Cruz.
That is nothing new. But I couldnt believe the context.
I choked on my coffee as I listened to two grown men (Bob Schieffer and Bob Woodward) acting like junior high school girls gossiping about how Ted Cruz sits alone in the cafeteria, because he hasnt gone along with the clique. He isnt doing what the in crowd wants him to do, so his punishment is ostracization by the kids in school. He is the quintessential rebel.
Since when is who sits with whom in the lunchroom journalism? How does that pass the smell test for serious news analysis?
As I was repining that scenario, I realized I had to write this, and that my book was going to have to wait.
If you look at all the potential presidential candidates, Ted Cruz is the only one who is yet to take a position that is opposed to most Americans.
Most Americans love him. From his rugged, asymmetrical real guy look, to his cheery, twinkle-eyed, Reaganesque smile, he feels all American and familiar. That is precisely why the news media want to drag him down.

I wouldn’t turn the page to read what men want.
Women sure eat this stuff up.
If they didn’t, you wouldn’t see article after article on the subject non-stop.
“repine” is intransitive !
There is no inherent reason why this message is less attractive to women, including single women with children -the demographic most vulnerable to the Democrat siren, -than the contrived "war on women" demagoguery which has proved so successful for Democrats.
In fact the conservative message should be more attractive to women but the Republican Party has no attractive messenger and it is unwilling to engage in the networking fundamental to building coalitions. The breakdown of the Republican land war in the election of 2012 is illustrative of the breakdown of the Republican Party's ability to communicate its message to women or other demographics by social or other media delivery systems.
One more reason why the entire establishment of the Republican Party must go.
(Bob Schieffer and Bob Woodward) acting like junior high school girls gossiping about how Ted Cruz sits alone
The case could be made, to BE a democrat is to be a junior high school girl or girl-like.. totally naive.. and/or mean..
The case could also be made all Rinos are really democrats..
Must be; Why male gays get along so famously in Washington D.C...
2013 Person of the Year
The Hill, a Washington D.C. newspaper covering Capitol Hill, on December 27, 2013, named Cruz "2013 Person of the Year."
Cruz was also named as "2013 Man of the Year" by TheBlaze, FrontPage Magazine[108] and The American Spectator,
"2013 Conservative of the Year" by Townhall.com,
"2013 Statesman of the Year" by the Republican Party of Sarasota County
and was a finalist in both "2013 Texan of the Year" by The Dallas Morning News and a "2013 Person of the Year" finalist by Time.
Record of a band that plays the blues.
Totally correct.
As long as the Roves, Bushes, McCains, Grahams, Christies, etc run the GOP they will be a losing party. When you run as Democrat Lite, you get neither Democrat votes nor Republican votes.
I just hope the conservative wing of the GOP is smart enough to coalesce around ONE candidate this time and NOT spend the primaries slaughtering each other with multiple candidates so another McCain or Romney slips in.
“Ostracization”??
Is that something to do with oysters? Osteoporosis?
When the Athenian assembly voted, each man marked his vote on a bit of broken pottery called an “ostracon.” If they decided they’d had enough of, say, Miltiades, the ostraca were marked negatively, and he was exiled - ostracized - from the polis.
Only men voted in Athens. I don’t understand what this topic has to do with women.
They were given everything they're little hearts desired and guess what; they want something else.
Ain't it past time for them to stop blaming everyone else, particuarly "old, white men", and start accepting responsibility?
I'm not talking about women in the real world trying to deal w/ children and a job, many of them followed the advice of nitwits like this author, and now find themselves in a very difficult position.
I'm talking about the women who have set themselves up as spokes"persons" who have ignored reality and nature and created a world where the people they hoped to help are the most miserable of all people.
I have a daughter that I love more than life itself, and let me tell you it's a very difficult world out there for all young people.
IMO, they need to disengage from the grid and rediscover their own humanity; but what's an old white guy know?
hmmm
I thought it had to do w/ ostriches; you know, head in the sand, ass in the air.
Ostriches are native to Africa.
“What do real women want?”
Easy. The right to shoes.
Well said, and wanted by “all”!
Obviously not, when you consider the twitterpation over Hillary. Mrs. Clinton has never accepted responsibility for her crimes and failures. Instead, she has taken advantage of her role as Bill Clinton's wife. A resume without any accomplishments is just a piece of paper.
Oh, I knew what ostracism was, I was just being snarky about the writer using "ostracization". I didn't know the background, though, so thanks for the history lesson! A [somewhat related] pet peeve of mine in a related vein is when someone takes an adjective formed by adding a suffix to a noun, then adds another suffix turning it back into a noun.
I dont understand what this topic has to do with women.
I didn't get that connection either.
Finally, a correct response.
