Ex-congressman arrested in Zimbabwe (Mel Reynolds)

Former Rep. Mel Reynolds (D-Ill.) has been arrested in Zimbabwe by immigration officers, according to multiple reports.

News outlet AllAfrica reports Reynolds was arrested on Monday on charges of violating immigration laws by carrying expired travel documents and possessing pornographic material.

"He has been picked up. Investigations are still underway and revealing information will jeopardize investigations that are underway," Assistant Regional Immigration Officer Francis Mabika told AllAfrica.

Reynolds resigned from Congress in 1995 after being charged with 12 counts of statutory rape, solicitation of child porn and obstruction of justice.

The former congressman arrived to Zimbabwe in November, and was given a two-week visa, which was renewed and expired on Dec. 10. He has since remained in the country illegally, the report says.

A source told AllAfrica that Reynolds shot more than 100 pornographic videos and 2,000 nude photos in his hotel room.

AllAfrica spoke to Reynolds as he was being detained. He said he wasn’t sure if he had broken any immigration laws.

"I misplaced my passport but I found it implying that I am not certain if I breached immigration laws against this country.

"I am sure I will find out about that. They denied me my passport so that I can contact the United States Embassy which is a violation of international laws," Reynolds said.

The report says he also racked up bills totaling $24,500 at two hotels in the area, and hadn’t paid for them.

Reynolds served in Congress from 1993 to 1995. Former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) succeeded him.

This scumbag hasn't changed his spots. Remember this from 1995?

Heard eventually approached police who taped phone conversations in which Reynolds asked her to photograph the breasts and genitalia of “Theresa,” an imaginary 15-year-old girl Heard invented as bait. Reynolds asked Heard to arrange a three-way encounter with “Theresa.” When Heard told the legislator that “Theresa” was a Catholic school girl, Reynolds replied: “Did I win the Lotto?” . . . . Reynolds was convicted of soliciting child pornography, criminal sexual assault.

NBCCHICAGO.COM: Opinion: Mel Reynolds's Horniness Opened Door For Obama
By Edward McClelland | Wednesday, Nov 28, 2012

Mel Reynolds served in Congress from 1993-95 before resigning.

EXCERPT Mel Reynolds announced he will try to regain the Congressional seat he gave up in 1995, but he has a better chance of winning the Lotto than he does of getting back to Washington, D.C. If it hadn’t been for Reynolds’s lust for teenage flesh, Barack Obama might not be president today -- a sex scandal created the opening Barack Obama needed to get into politics.

Reynolds, then a second-term congressman was accused of having sex with a 16-year-old he’d met during his 1992 run for Congress. Reynolds had spotted the girl while driving around the district and pulled over to chat, even though he was supposed to be politicking and she was too young to vote. Soon after, she joined his campaign as volunteer and mistress. Two years later, the girl confessed to the affair to her next-door neighbor, who happened to be a Chicago police officer.

The state’s attorney set up a phone-sex sting. While sitting in a prosecutor’s office, the girl called Reynolds and told him she couldn’t make their tryst because she had to babysit. “What you gonna wear?” Reynolds prompted. “Well, my peach underwear, like you told me to. I was hoping we could do something really special but I see that’s not going to happen, I guess.” “I was definitely gonna f---,” Reynolds said. “Right in my office. I was gonna masturbate too.”

At the panting congressman’s urging, the girl spun a story of sex with a lesbian lover. When Reynolds asked if the other woman would be willing to do a threesome, the girl said no – but she knew a 15-year-old girl who might. A 15-year-old Catholic schoolgirl. “Did I win the Lotto?” Reynolds exclaimed.

There was no 15-year-old schoolgirl. But this declaration of a married congressman’s lust for teenagers turned into a catchphrase. Jay Leno joked about it on The Tonight Show. The case was so salacious it made headlines in Chicago for more than a year. Reynolds won re-election in his heavily Democratic district, but, by 1995, he was facing a trial that threatened to cost him his seat in Congress.

Reynolds protested that he was guilty only of phone sex and erotic fantasies, but, as his trial approached, State Sen. Alice Palmer announced she would run against Reynolds in the primary......this was Obama’s chance. He decided he wanted to run for the seat.

.....by the time Obama met Palmer, Mel Reynolds had been convicted, imprisoned, and resigned his seat in Congress. Palmer was no longer running in the March 1996 primary. She was running in a special election.... Palmer assured Obama she was all in. It was going to be Congress or bust. Obama won Palmer’s senate seat, and the rest is history -- history that began with a horny congressman.

Ward Room blogger Edward McClelland’s Young Mr. Obama: Chicago and the Making of a Black President will be available on Kindle for $9.99. Tracing Obama’s career in Chicago from his arrival as a community organizer to his election to the U.S. Senate, Young Mr. Obama tells the story of how a callow, presumptuous young man became a master politician, and of why only Chicago could have produced our first black president.

"President Bill Clinton commuted his sentence in 2001."

Another consequence from the past, present and ongoing Hillary/Billary criminal enterprise.

Former United States Congressman for Chicago Melvin Jay Reynolds, who came into Zimbabwe last year purporting to be a middleman for foreign investors in the tourism industry, was yesterday arrested for violating immigration laws and possessing pornographic material. He had also accumulated bills worth US$24 500 at two hotels which he was yet to pay.
Reynolds, who was convicted on 12 counts of statutory rape, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography before he resigned from his seat in the USA was picked up by police detectives and immigration officials at Bronte Garden Hotel.

Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba had said police officers on the ground did not arrest someone like him.

Assistant Regional Immigration Officer Francis Mabika differed and confirmed the incident, saying he will avail more information surrounding the issue today.

“He has been picked up. Investigations are still underway and revealing information will jeopardise investigations that are underway,” he said.

According to his former aide identified as Sunny, Reynolds was in possession of pornographic material he shot on different occasions while in the company of a model (name supplied) and several girls in his hotel rooms.

“His travel documents were not up to date and he used to bring beautiful women at different times. He employed five of us including a personal assistant and a driver.

“He currently has unpaid hotel bills of more than US$24 500 accrued at two local hotels,” he said.
Another closely placed source said Reynolds shot more than 100 pornographic videos and a further 2 000 nude pictures while he was in the company of at least 10 women including famous models.

“Reynolds entered Zimbabwe via Plumtree Border Post on November 13, where he was given a 14 day visa. The visa was later renewed and expired again on December 10 and he has been in the country illegally all along.

“He conducted the acts in the hotel rooms when he was guarded by four personal aides that were on his payroll,” he said.
When The Herald arrived at the hotel at around 1pm, Reynolds was being escorted to a vehicle and was demanding his mobile phone and the laptop from the officials.

“It’s the way it is and I have been in this country 17 times where I have done a lot of work for the people including the fight against sanctions.

“I misplaced my passport but I found it implying that I am not certain if I breached immigration laws against this country.
“I am sure I will find out about that. They denied me my passport so that I can contact the United States Embassy which is a violation of international laws,” said Reynolds.

Reynolds said he was not expecting the treatment after bringing several investors in the country.
He recently hogged the limelight after he was connected to the construction of the US$145 million five-star Hilton Hotel and office complex along Samora Machel Avenue in Eastlea which was scheduled to begin in April this year.
The project was expected to be completed in late 2016.

He toured the construction site back then in the company of Government ministers Walter Mzembi, Webster Shamu and Ignatius Chombo, and businessman Mr Farai Jere.

According to American newspapers, Reynolds resigned from a Congress post he held for two years in 1995, in his homeland after he was convicted of statutory rape, bank fraud, obstruction of justice and having sex with a 16-year-old campaign volunteer.

He was sentenced to five years in prison before he was further given an additional sentence of 78 months in federal prison for 15 unrelated counts of bank fraud and lying to investigators.

He served all of his first sentence, and served 42 months in prison for the later charges before former US president Bill Clinton commuted the sentence for bank fraud in 2001.

Reynolds was released from prison and served the remaining time in a halfway house and was hired by Jesse Jackson’’s Rainbow/Push Coalition to decrease the number of young blacks going to prison.

Halfway houses are meant for reintegration of persons who have been recently released from jail.

Maybe the justice system in Zimbabwe will do what the justice system in the United States did not do—give this pervert free food and lodging for about 40 years.

Do a search on this guy and laugh at the results. He has been hooked to good old Jesse Jackass, and Clinton gave him a "get out of jail free card."

This moron was actually planning on running for JJ Jr's congressional seat and this after almost a dozen convictions that involved minors and sex. The Democraps do tend to run their brightest and finest.

I think we just found Obama's long lost downunder brother.

No....it was Congressthing Gus Savage, also of Chicago, who refused to be interviewed by “the white media”.

Zimbabwe is probably the worst of the worst places usually known as “third world s***holes”. Wonder why Mel Reynolds was drawn there, anyway?

ahh..yes. He's really "hit-the-jackpot", wonder what is the sentence is for these charges?
oppss, i forgot USA A.G. (Fuhrer) Eric Holder, shall come to Reynold's rescue.
Question is, can Holder play the race card in this instance? ..has the "card" been canceled?
Will Holden just try to explain "cultural differences".. shall Reynolds just sit "twirling" in the wind.
Does this country, have a luxury prison or just the common everyday prisons..a four-tier system.
I'm sure Reynolds shall find, he'll have lots of fun/new (Islamic :) friends.
