At least eighteen people including seven policemen and 11 protesters were killed and hundreds more were injured during clashes in Kiev on Tuesday.

White House Leaving Ukraine Crisis Up to Biden
The police aren’t taking this seriously. Superior firepower wins the day.
Seven dead policemen indicates that the “freedom fighters” are armed... similar to Syria, actually.
I read that there are 500,000 Ukrainian citizens with firearms licenses. Think that was in the WSJ.

They are rebelling against fraudulently elected president who has rewritten the constitution illegally to basically give himself dictatorial powers. The corrupt president has just accepted another several billion dollar loan from Russia. They are fighting for the last scraps of freedom that are about to be taken away from them.
