The history of the Ukraine is a difficult one. The only reason they fell under Soviet rule is because they were starved to death until they submitted. There has always been a dissident’s heart in the Ukraine. Many managed to escape during the Hungarian uprising in 56. After the fall the Ukraine should signs of being a stabilizing and somewhat democratic influence in the are.

They want the EU because they think it will bring them economic outlets AND more importantly (and unrealistically) defense by those in NATO

Only the top nations of the EU economically are not faring poorly.

Ukraine would be yet another backward nation - compared to the Germanys, Switzerlands, Frances, etc.

IMHO, the reports of Ukraine "wanting" to join the EU are solely due to ongoing Soros and other Western operations inside the Ukraine.

I posted a thread with an article from rt.com from 2011 that predicted this was going to happen, and that Soros was a major mover.
