All-Alaska Gas Pipeline Will Spike America's Energy Boom

America's energy boom is about to take another huge leap forward as the State of Alaska is on the verge of approving the $50 billion All-Alaskan Gas Pipeline (AAGP). The massive project will transport "stranded" North Slope natural gas south down the Kenai Peninsula to a new port built to export Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to Asian markets. The project expects to gain the State Legislature's approval in 60 days, finish planning and begin six years of construction in 2018. Despite drilling on U.S. federal land shrinking every year since 2008, individual states are aggressively partnering with the private sector to build intra-state energy projects that do not cross any foreign borders and are thus exempt from the type of presidential approval requirements that stopped the Keystone XL Pipeline. AAGP will have spectacularly positive economic impacts on Alaskan citizens and cut America's trade deficit by up to $24 billion a year.

The All-Alaska Gas Pipeline is being championed by Republican Governor Sean Parnell, who in 2010 ran and won on the Tea Party supported "Cut-Cap-and-Balance Pledge." This has forced the high-spending Alaska Legislature to face the reality that oil production from the North Slope is in decline and has fallen by a third in the last six years. Parnell defeated the Democrats' and liberals' demands to raise corporate taxation of oil companies, then legislated higher energy incentives to spur the AAGP.

There is at least 35.4 trillion cubic feet of producible natural gas in the four existing North Slope oil fields at Prudhoe Bay, Point Thomson, Lisburne, and...

--snip--

Even the "Peoples' Republic of California" on September 20, 2013 passed "SB-4 Oil and Gas: Well Stimulation," an environmentally friendly term for green-lighting fracking. The common factor energizing America's energy boom is the joint cooperation between states and the private sector.

This disturbs me.

These products are sold into a world market. If a new, more competitive entrant appears in a market, they will back out existing suppliers or force them back to defend their best netbacks.

Only if obama and the enviro-weenie get their way. In my opinion, go to work ... build the pipeline ... build the one from Canada too. Tell ‘em we don’t need permits; illegals don’t have permits either. Tell ‘em when they clean up that mess, we’ll come back and talk, otherwise go right past their laws ... Build the Pipelines.

"This disturbs me"

Obama has already granted 6 LNG export permits, the last just about 10 days ago. The first of those is supposed to be up and running in 2015.

This pipeline they are talking about in Alaska is not much different from the pipeline that Sen/Gov Frank Murkowski proposed in 2004/2005.

Palin killed Murkowski's pipeline and made a deal with TransCanada to build her pipeline but it never got off the ground, because Palin told the oil companies that she was retaining the option of raising taxes in the future.

The Alaska GOP has been trying to undo what Palin did on the pipeline and Palin's tax increase on oil.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The pipeline had been a political football in Alaska for many years..
ONLY........ Sarah Palin got the issue off the dime...

Murkowski was and is a RINO as bad(WORSE) than his daughter..
AND thats saying something.. a BIG spending BIG givernment RINO much like George Bush...

Sean Parnell took over from Sarah... was her Lieutenant General.. NOW Gov..
She could easily win GOV. again IF she wanted to.. (AND KNOWS IT)..

"Sarah Palin got the issue off the dime"

Not hardly. First off, the nat gas pipeline had never been a political football. The Alaska gas and the cost of shipping could never compete with the price of gas produced in the lower 48. That is why the nat gas was classified as "stranded".

It was the first ever US natural gas shortages in 2000-2001(remember Enron) that pulled the trigger. It was those shortages that allowed Sen Murkowski to get Alaska Natural Gasline Act of 2004 thru congress, and that act contained the loan guarantees, the price floor supports, and fast-tracking the enviro studies.

So Murkowski then runs for Gov so he can bird-dog the project thru the Alaska govt. Keep in mind, he has already negotiated the deal with the oil companies before he takes office and this became the Stranded Gas Act. And just like the current bill, Alaska would take and an equity position in the pipeline, so Alaska could make money coming and going

Then Katrina comes along and takes out a lot of the nat gas supply in the Gulf of Mexico, setting off another nat gas shortage and huge price increases.

Into that situation Palin steps and says the deal that Murkowski made is no longer good enough, she could do better.

She tried, but nobody but TransCan would bid the job. In the meantime, because she delayed the project, the costs went up and the loan guarantees were no longer adequate. TransCan had several open seasons and none of the oil companies would submit or commit because they didn't want to stick their neck out and have Palin cut it off with a tax increase.

So it died and she resigned, leaving Parnell holding the bag.

As many have said, Palin's Gasline Inducement Act should have been called Palin's Gasline Coercement Act
