A billionaire hedge fund maestro on a mission to combat climate change is looking to up the ante. Tom Steyer, a 56-year old Democrat who accumulated more than $1.5 billion as founder of Farallon Capital Management, is galvanizing donors to raise as much as $100 million. His mission is to enact climate change measures through a campaign of attack ads aimed mostly at Republican lawmakers.

How come there's so many idiot millionaire liberals? Oh, because they are so much smarter than us peons. If they weren't how could they possibly have managed to amass such wealth? Hey tommy. Here's an idea on how to aid in stopping glow-bull warming/climate change. Just use all that money to buy up a bunch of solar powered air conditioners to place all over the country and crank 'em down to about 60 degrees. Makes as much sense as all the other crap you and your ilk propose. Easy peasy. Idiot!

Looky HERE:
Early life and education[edit]Steyer was born in New York City in 1957. His mother, Marnie (née Fahr), was a teacher of remedial reading at the Brooklyn House of Detention, and his father, Roy Henry Steyer, was a partner in the New York law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell.[9][10] He attended Philips Exeter Academy and graduated from Yale University, Summa Cum Laude in Economics and Political Science and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Wolf’s Head Society. He was captain of the Yale soccer team. Steyer received his MBA from Stanford Business School, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.[11]

Career[edit]Early career[edit]Prior to joining Hellman & Friedman, Steyer worked at Goldman Sachs from 1983-1985 as an associate in the risk arbitrage department under Robert Rubin. He began his professional career at Morgan Stanley in 1979.[2]

The excess money influences the ego and creates a “socialist”.

The personal thought at work here is, “I’m successful so everyone must follow my rules for success (or, at least, personal comfort). The best way to acheive that is to make following someone’s opinion, a LAW.

Um, so how much money does this guy have wrapped up in worthless "carbon credits" he's looking to cash in on?

Just 'cause he's rich doesn't mean he's right.

You would be surprised the same things that make for a good CEO are also one of their greatest weaknesses.
Confidence and Drive.
The way to balance it is to hire good people who are not afraid to say you are stupid.

Silicon Valley is loaded with good CEO’s who fired the people adding balance.

From another FR Thread today:

” - - - The Nobel Peace Prize 2007 was awarded jointly to Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Albert Arnold (Al) Gore Jr. “for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change”. - - - “

______________________________________________________________________________

As of this writing, there is no Scientifically proven, laboratory tested, peer-reviewed, published article on any known Cause and Effect between the amount of CO2 and change in air temperature.

In the field, for example, the Global ppm of CO2 has increased in the last 17 years, but the Global air temperature has not changed, or has gotten colder depending on the site being measured.

Last year the Arctic Ocean Ice Cap grew in area and thickness with Global CO2 at its highest level, providing yet another addition to the very long list of field test failures to the proponents of the pop-culture, junk science speculation called “Global Warming.”

CO2 is essential for plants to obtain Carbon, and thus CO2 is an environmentally friendly Green House Gas right along with the most abundant Green House Gas, Water Vapor.

BTW, Water Vapor abundance in the atmosphere is 25,000 ppmillion, and CO2 is 400 ppmillion, +/-, adjusted for volcanic and seasonal variation.

Fear-mongering, Spendaholic Politicians can fool some of the real Scientists some of the time, but they have convincingly proven that they can fool all of the “junk scientists” all of the time.

Since abundant CO2 is essential for Green Plants to grow by the process of Photosynthesis, we FReepers are duty bound to break down the Spendaholic Politician’s Barrycades that un-Scientifically discourage the increased generation of life-giving CO2.

Let us as FReepers storm the Anti-Green Energy, “Phony CO2 Barrycades” of the Spendaholic Politicians with the following chants and street signs:

“Support Green House Gas Increases:
CO2 means more plant food for you;
Corn and CO2 go together like Wealth and Work;
Carbon is a Plant’s Best Friend;
If you like to hug trees, then produce more CO2;
Make more CO2, not more Taxes;
Bring back our life-giving Coal fired plants:
Support the Green Energy Revolution!”:

“Tom Steyer, a 56-year old Democrat who accumulated more than $1.5 billion as founder of Farallon Capital Management ...”

Farallon Capital Management? That sounds like the sort of financial outfit that Paul Krugman and Jonathan Chait were recently whining about.

Because there is nothing that scares the voters more than climate change. Not the 17 Trillion dollar debt, not Obamacare, not a vindictive IRS, not the lack of jobs.

Sadly, this might work.

With few exceptions, most of the (R) lawmakers are either in cahoots with this bunch, or are sniveling cowards who scuttle off at the first sign that anyone might not like them, unless the ones who think they have by and large become useless oxygen consumers happen to be Conservatives, because they think they'll get the Conservative vote, regardless.

Hint to the GOP: Y'all had best grow a pair and stand up to this crap, or you'll find out just how bad the economy is in much of America when you're looking for a job.

Just another Koch brother.

Hey Leftists, when you demonize the Koch Brothers, think about this guy, you hypocrites!

When you do your two minutes of hate for all things conservative, and you start hating on the Koch Brothers, remember this guy is just as guilty of all those things you hate. No “But he’s different...” Same shit, different party.

About the solar air conditioners....not such a bad idea (except for the fact they'd just put more heat out than cool).

Well, someone would have to make them...(prolly the Chinese), and someone would have to distribute and set them up...

I wonder what sort of carbon footprint that would leave?

We know two things:

He has money.

He's fool enough to fall for the "Global Warming" crap.

You know what they say about a fool and his money...

Well, someone is going to relieve him of it.

He’s not an idiot, he’s a “climate parasite” (term coined be William Levinson).

This pig’s objective is to make even MORE money and laugh at the suckers all the way to the bank (in the Cayman Islands, no doubt).

I’m hoping this backfires. He’s going on the warpath against Mary Landrieu, who’s vulnerable from the right in Louisiana. If he succeeds in pushing her to the left, she’s cooked. She says she thinks this will help her, but I think there’s a certain amount of whistling past the graveyard....
