877,000 covered under MediCal (Medicaid)
626,210 having coverage subsidized
yep a real sustainable economic model
The Sentinel has been doing nothing but cheer leading this crap from the start.
Nothing but a propaganda arm of the corrupt Santa Cruz Rat party.
I have NO doubt that is 100% true.
I think Republican strategists have significantly overrated the importance of ObamaCare in the 2014 election.
The story in California is the same story in almost every other state:
Roughly 80% of applicants sign up for free Medicaid or subsidized health plans.
Why, exactly, would any of those people vote against the Democrat Party?
Today, in Washington State, I was talking to a massage therapist (a lesbian I discovered) who said that for the first time in her life she now has health care.
I wondered what it’s costing me. I’d say she was early 40s. Can’t imagine she couldn’t have afforded some sort of plan before.
She was lying. One, everyone has health care. No one is denied care for any reason by law.
So, being a typical stupid liberal, she didn’t realize she meant health insurance. And not having it by that age was stupid which she is and thus needs a third party, government, to “take care of her”.
I prefer they have fatal accidents but I’d probably have to pay for the funeral.
They are already Dem voters. The real question is how many uninsured remain in CA? And how many of those who enrolled under Obamacare had their previous insurance cancelled.
The Medicaid figures are always suspect since people are dropping off and signing up for Medicaid all the time. And how many were added due to the expansion of Medicaid?
In case you don't know, here's the link for Washington state ObamaCare numbers.
They update about twice a month, and their numbers are more comprehensive, more detailed, and easier to understand than any other reporting website I've seen.
The most interesting contrast between us and other states is that “Paid” and “Unpaid” enrollees here are split almost 50-50.
Makes me wonder if other states are fudging their numbers.
Here's the most current report:
http://www.wahbexchange.org/news-resources/press-room/press-releases/feb-11-enrollment-data
In the future, go to the home page, click on “News&Resources,” then click on “Press Room,” then click on “Press Releases.”
Obama lies!
I love surfing in Santa Cruz but that local paper is wall to wall liberal excrement, worse than the LAT.
The CBS channel here in Sacramento has been showing stories every night about people who got their insurance through the CA exchange, only to find out that they can’t find any doctors to treat them due to the low reimbursement rates.
And they also said that the “young and healthy” portion of those who have signed up is about 25% - and they need it to be 40% to make it financially viable.
RE: “The Medicaid figures are always suspect since people are dropping off and signing up for Medicaid all the time.”
Check out my Washington state link in Comment #7.
They break down our Medicaid numbers into all the categories you’re looking for.
Thanks! That is interesting....I wonder if these medicaid people know that their personal property can be seized by the government to pay the state back when they die? More importantly, do their kids know?
My agent got my insurance renewed ....went to the Dr. yesterday and apparently no co-pay. Either that or they haven’t figured it out yet. Anyway, I left without paying a nickel.
At least I didn’t have to try the government websites.
If these young and healthy people are signing up for free Medicaid or high subsidy policies, they won't help to finance ObamaCare at all.
They will make the finances even worse!
RE: “personal property can be seized”
I think that will change very soon.
Currently, if your income is below a certain point, the websites automatically assign you to Medicaid - no choice allowed.
The only way you can avoid Medicaid is to lie about your income!
No mention of the couple from California who signed up but now can not find a Doctor who will do his back surgery.
> Makes me wonder if other states are fudging their numbers
ANYTIME Obama is involved there will be fudging of numbers to suit his needs
> The only way you can avoid Medicaid is to lie about your income!
Something the minorities are very well versed in.
Thanks for the information. Ultimately, the numbers enrolling thru the exchanges will increase as employers drop coverage. I think we make a mistake making that the metric to determine if Obamacare is successful. The bottom line should be the number of uninsured in the country, which was supposed to be the rationale for Obamacare. I am fairly confident that the number of uninsured will increase rather than decrease. The Affordable Care Act is unaffordable.
