West, who spent 22 years in the U.S. Army and one term in Congress before losing his bid for reelection in 2012, says he will always be ready to serve his country. “You have to have yourself in a position to be available for your country and to be obedient to God’s will,” he says.

I admire Allen West. Not afraid to speak out and stand up for his country. He would be up against the biggest smear job campaign ever.

Palin, for all her great attributes, will not be elected to national office. She’s most effective as a private advocate of conservative causes.

Cruz. Pence. Even Walker.

Pence and Walker would be preferable at this point, only because they have measurable success at the executive level.

I would put Pence at the top of my wish list, but if we limit it to those who are running then I'd put Cruz first because he can galvanize the base and is an eloquent and dynamic speaker who can articulate the Conservative message better than anyone else out there. I just don't see West as a serious contender.

Okay.

I love Ted Cruz, but I believe that after only 1 year in the Senate, he’s not quite ready for the Oval Office. Particularly after these past 5 years of the Obama Regime. I would like to see Ted Cruz become the Senate Majority Leader, eventually. I believe that he would prove to be fabulous in that position and would have the greatest impact, there.

Pence? I can’t see that at all for a multitude of reasons. He strikes me as a “light weight” version of Mittens Romney.

I really do like Scott Walker. He has the executive experience added with the fact that he has faced down the RATs and the Unions successfully while the Media has fought him tooth and nail. I think that he would be a fine choice.

Given the fact that on the international scene, our status and image has been severely compromised by Obama’s weak and Anti America policies. We are going to have someone that has some serious experience in dealing with our Allies who no longer think that they can Trust us. In addition, Obama has made it clear that our Enemies should no longer Respect and Fear us. Our military has been adversely impacted by actions that have resulted in diminished morale, unit cohesion and material/equipment degradations and that is going to require restoration.

I’m hoping and praying that we can get someone like Allen West or retired Marine General James Mattis to step up for these very real challenges that lay ahead of us. Personally, this old Jarhead would proudly follow either one of these fine men in a full out assault on the Gates of Hell.

While I don’t have anything really against the man professionally, a West campaign would be a joke. I prefer to concentrate on candidates who can win the nomination and who can beat Hillary.

I think you are dead on and pretty much agree completely.

Regarding Lt Col West, there is certainly a place for such a great conservative, but that place is not the Oval Office.

It is deja vu all over again with ever conservative in the book trying to run. It will be President Hillary if they don’t get their @##$ together and agree on a conservative, one conservative, for the primary against the GOPe canidate

I love Ted Cruz, but I believe that after only 1 year in the Senate, he’s not quite ready for the Oval Office.

And after two years in the House West is????

Pence? I can’t see that at all for a multitude of reasons. He strikes me as a “light weight” version of Mittens Romney.

Then you really haven't looked into him at all.

I really do like Scott Walker. He has the executive experience added with the fact that he has faced down the RATs and the Unions successfully while the Media has fought him tooth and nail. I think that he would be a fine choice.

Agreed.

Given the fact that on the international scene, our status and image has been severely compromised by Obama’s weak and Anti America policies. We are going to have someone that has some serious experience in dealing with our Allies who no longer think that they can Trust us.

And West fills that bill how exactly?

Our military has been adversely impacted by actions that have resulted in diminished morale, unit cohesion and material/equipment degradations and that is going to require restoration.

Sixteen straight years of war and endless deployments will do that to you.

I’m hoping and praying that we can get someone like Allen West or retired Marine General James Mattis to step up for these very real challenges that lay ahead of us. Personally, this old Jarhead would proudly follow either one of these fine men in a full out assault on the Gates of Hell.

Then y'all go and assault Hell if you want. I'll try and help the next president repair the damage done over the past 8 years. There is a lot more that needs to be repaired than just the military.

Way too early to even consider any wannabe.

==

The November elections could reveal a lot.

If it resembles 2010 with a major Tea Party/conservative/Republican shellacking, the conseratives could force the nomination selection to the right for 2016.

If, however, it resembles the failure to take the Senate in 2012 when that seemed almost certain, the GOPelites will be in charge of the race for 2016 and will end up with another GOPelite nominee.

“There is a lot more that needs to be repaired than just the military.”

No question about that.

However, we are now facing threats on the international scene that require that we be prepared to deal with. If our military isn’t fully prepared to face the coming challenges, then we are at risk. It’s not a question of “if” but a question of “when”.

“And West fills that bill how exactly?”

After 22 years in the Army, he’s been exposed to working with our Allies as well as dealing with our Enemies. Don’t overlook the value of that experience.

“Sixteen straight years of war and endless deployments will do that to you.”

Again, I agree with you. However don’t overlook the fact that Obama and his sorry approach in showing his contempt and loathing our military has had a deleterious impact across the board. The constant deep cuts in funding across the board has been intentionally damaging and must be addressed by someone who knows and understands the actions that need to be taken. Keep in mind that the primary function and responsibility of the Federal Government is the Security of these United States. Failing that, we cannot survive to deal with all of the other issues that we face.

I want someone who understands and is committed to the defense of our Constitution against all Enemies, Foreign and Domestic and that is willing to see that mission through.

No thanks. I think we can do better.

He political resume is lacking, OK.

But, I would still love to see him in the race. A black conservative, particularly a veteran, scares the daylights out of the Left establishment. Herman Cain stated as a primary candidate in 20111-2012 that he could get 1/3 of the black vote. That alone is enough to give the lefties a serious headache.

IMO, Herman Cain mobilized the Left to push amnesty. One, two or three black conservatives on the national level could confound the hammerlock that the Democrats have on the black voters, permanently.

Why?

Oh please. He peaked out as a battalion commander. That hardly qualifies him as an expert in internatiolnal relations.

I want someone who understands and is committed to the defense of our Constitution against all Enemies, Foreign and Domestic and that is willing to see that mission through.

I want someone who can win the election and not drive the country off a cliff if president. I can think of a whole list of people better qualified to do that than Allan West.

Wow. What if I claim I can get 80% of the woman vote? If I run then will you support me?

Allan West would scare nobody on the other side of the aisle, because all of them would see his candidacy for what it was, hopeless. I would rather support candidates that they really would be scared of and not waste time on someone that can easily dismiss.

I would have supported Scott Walker right up until he said we need immigration reform. He clearly didn’t mean the only reform I think we need which is actual enforcement. (I did support him in his fight against the unions and I was very disappointed to find out his amnesty position.)

If that’s the case, that’s a deal breaker for me.

I will never support anybody that isn’t 100% rock solid on the question of immigration.

At this point in our existence, I believe that we need to institute a policy that severely limits immigration, entirely. We need a period of time for those that have come here LEGALLY over the past 20 years to fully assimilate to our society.

I don’t know about that. Sarah Palin never ran so we can’t be for sure. Palin has a deep passionate tea party crowd and if you think it would end up like Bachmann’s run then I have news for you. More people would be supportive of Palin’s run.

There was a mess in the primaries that hurt Bachmann, but I must say Palin would generate a buzz that Bachmann couldn’t. People light up like Christmas trees when there is any mention of Palin. She has the popularity that Bachmann couldn’t attain in her run.

Basically, Palin could win. And if she won the primary then the right would come out in force to vote for her in the general. I don’t buy she is damaged goods and could never win. Anything is possible.

Just like I don’t think Bachmann could never run again and win. Only the left would think these things. I just worry about fraud, but I worry about it every election. The other issue is the primary and caucus states being too left wing at times in choices. But that didn’t stop Santorum for giving Romney a good run and for Bush to win two elections in 2000 and 2004.

If the base were ever energized about a candidate and the least a good 30% of the rest of the population got mad at the left then it could happen.

but i see the base bitch and moan then not go vote. Or not come out in force. Or get divided at primary time. What they need to do is try to untie when the chips are down and get anybody who is on our side across the finish line.
