Senate Democrats: Why Didn't Someone Tell Us Obamacare Would Cut Medicare?

The National Republican Senatorial Committee points out that North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan and other vulnerable Senate Democrats are now whacking the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid… for enacting changes required by Obamacare. Hey, Senator Hagan, if you want to blame someone, blame the foolish or dishonest lawmakers who voted for the law!

In 2009, Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC) promised North Carolinians who depend on Medicare that she was going to “protect Medicare” and that they would “not see a drop in their Medicare coverage.”

You are probably right. I wish the Republicans were better “fighters” similar to Ted Cruz. Conservatives like Ted’s spunk and what he has to say, but the media is on complete “bash mode” when they cover him at all. That’s not a good situation when it comes to conveying information to the uninformed masses. If a statement of fact comes from a conservative, they are immediately demeaned and discredited.

With the string of upwards of 30 EW's, this is clear evidence that they didn't read it purposely, as they knew the ACA would be changing anyway. Why read what in effect is a moving target?

The information was in the headlines and widely discussed before the democrats passed the Obamacare bill.

But while being wined, dined, and having their pockets stuffed with cash by the lobbyists pushing the bill they were too busy to learn about any of the actual content.

I think they fully expected that they would be able to move a half trillion dollars from Medicare to Obamacare to get Obamacare’s net expenses under the magical one trillion dollars (said with Dr. Evil emphasis) and then later add the half trillion dollars back to Medicare and brag how they both saved Medicare and fully funded Obamacare (hey, you with the green eye shade... step away from the accounts book, you don’t need to read that). But they lost control of Congress in 2010 so they couldn’t make the final moves of their game of three card monte. Now they have to deny they were playing that game at any time.
