The Chamber of Commerce will back Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) in his reelection campaign, helping him in his surprise primary against Tea Party-aligned Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas).
"Senator Cornyn is a conservative champion for the American free enterprise system. He has a proven record on issues important to the business community and has received a 90 percent lifetime voting record with the U.S. Chamber," Chamber National Political Director Rob Engstrom said in a statement. "The Chamber is proud to stand with him."
The endorsement is the latest example of establishment conservative and business groups stepping up for Republicans facing right-wing challenges.

On way to Texas to endorse my friend Senator Cornyn tomorrow morning. Thx to the TX Assoc of Business for hosting. @TeamCornyn
U.S. Chamber National Political Director. Baylor alum. Go Dawgs. Raised in Atlanta, now Alexandria, VA. Tweets are mine.
I dont understand why the Chamber is going public. Unless they want to claim credit if they win. They spent a lot more than $50 million officially on amnesty. Just having the Chamber’s name on it is a negative.
Millionaires for Cornyn.....yep,that’ll sure turn out the struggling Middle Class to vote for the guy cashing in four government checks paid for by the tax payers.
Senate votes for Amnesty Bill Cloture (John Cornyn Amnesty Flashback)
Another problem with Mitch. He needs to kick Cornyn, Hatch, Flake and Graham off the judiciary.
A great country deserves a great immigration system (Cornyn 2013 Op-Ed)
Cornyn, Rove attend Tyler panel on immigration (2007 Flashback)
The National Chamber and their pro amnesty crap can forget it.
and Cornyn too.
Bye Bye John
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has basically come out to say that it is more important for them to get short term windfall profits than is the health of our nation.
Not surprising with so many of their members being internationalists, with no particular loyalty to the US.
But this being said, they should be reminded that “payback is a biatch.” When conservatives are in power, their lobbyists might as well sell apples on street corners.
Chamber of Cronies have outed themselves.
I’m not sure their endorsement will sway any voters. The only way the Corporatist Chamber of Commerce can help Cornyn is to continue to shovel money to him, which I fully expect them to do.
Definitely a sign that the Chamber of Amnesty advertising dollars are about the start flowing to Cornyn.
Rep. Steve Stockman
Nation’s #1 advocate of illegal alien amnesty flying into Texas for emergency endorsement of Cornyn tomorrow.
The Chamber of Commerce is our enemy, plain and simple.
“Cornyn also brought up a fact that most of those who fight reform probably dont think about: Mexico is the United States third-largest trading partner.”
“Cornyn also says, probably correctly, that most of the people who come from Mexico dont even want U.S. citizenship, they just want a job, to provide for their families.”
Are there no jobs in Mexico while it is booming and has 5% unemployment?
Endorsement by the Chamber of Crony Fascists is the kiss of death for Cornhole.
Cornyn wants U.S. taxpayers to fund Mexican development (July 13, 2006)
The bedrock of the GOPe is coming out for Cornyn? Surprise, surprise.
Who needs commerce? Or if we do, why do we need a chamber for it? And why is it U.S.? Isn’t commerce international?
A chamber is nothing more than a room. Whenever I see Engstrom and Cornyn together, I say to get a chamberpot.
Yeah and Tokyo Rove endorsed him too so what else is new?
