The Chamber of Commerce will back Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) in his reelection campaign, helping him in his surprise primary against Tea Party-aligned Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas).

‎"Senator Cornyn is a conservative champion for the American free enterprise system. He has a proven record on issues important to the business community and has received a 90 percent lifetime voting record with the U.S. Chamber," Chamber National Political Director Rob Engstrom said in a statement. "The Chamber is proud to stand with him."

The endorsement is the latest example of establishment conservative and business groups stepping up for Republicans facing right-wing challenges.

I dont understand why the Chamber is going public. Unless they want to claim credit if they win. They spent a lot more than $50 million officially on amnesty. Just having the Chamber’s name on it is a negative.

Another problem with Mitch. He needs to kick Cornyn, Hatch, Flake and Graham off the judiciary.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has basically come out to say that it is more important for them to get short term windfall profits than is the health of our nation.

Not surprising with so many of their members being internationalists, with no particular loyalty to the US.

But this being said, they should be reminded that “payback is a biatch.” When conservatives are in power, their lobbyists might as well sell apples on street corners.

I’m not sure their endorsement will sway any voters. The only way the Corporatist Chamber of Commerce can help Cornyn is to continue to shovel money to him, which I fully expect them to do.

Definitely a sign that the Chamber of Amnesty advertising dollars are about the start flowing to Cornyn.

“Cornyn also brought up a fact that most of those who fight reform probably don’t think about: Mexico is the United States’ third-largest trading partner.”

http://www.news-journal.com/opinion/latham-cornyn-makes-sense-on-immigration/article_d35ba0cd-729b-5eee-a99f-f4fa3fb9a34e.html

“Cornyn also says, probably correctly, that most of the people who come from Mexico don’t even want U.S. citizenship, they just want a job, to provide for their families.”

Are there no jobs in Mexico while it is booming and has 5% unemployment?

I would have never thought I would see in my lifetime, the Chamber of Commerce would turn pro big government. Wonder if this happened to business groups in pre-WWII Spain and Italy? Sure as heck happening before our eyes, America is slipping away.
