This is third rail around here, but what I’ve read about Mr Berlin’s statements regarding these two tunes supports your point of view, and in fact makes the case much worse. (This was from one of biographies of the man.)
Another point is that you can’t win an argument in America over popular culture, especially trite popular music or movies. The belief is stronger than Christianity, as John Lennon once observed.
Doesn’t surprise me that Gabler would sound like Hezbollah a little bit, given his background.

No, but he’s lending fuel to their fire especially with that word “empire”, and he uses the collective term “Hollywood Jews”. Maybe not intentionally, but the man is a journalist . . .
It was better in the Original German.
