(Boulder, CO) The son of U.S. Sen. Mark Udall has been charged with breaking into a home and four cars after allegedly using heroin.

Twenty-six-year-old Jedediah Lee Fox-Udall was advised of the charges during a brief court hearing in Boulder Thursday.

He faces charges of trespassing, burglary, theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies say after they arrested Fox-Udall on Jan. 30, he told them he had recently used heroin, but prosecutors say no heroin was found and he wasn't charged with drug possession.

His lawyer, Alex Garlin, says Fox-Udall is in an addiction treatment program and "is dedicated to turning his life around."

Udall is a Rat - absent from the article, of course. Nevertheless, too bad for the parents. I would guess that leftist parents are poor parents

Hey this is the age of redistribution of wealth. He should have run for congress or waited a few years and make a run for president.

I recently heard an interview with former NFL quarterback Erik Kramer. His son o.d.’d. Tragic. Sometimes parents aren’t to blame.

Sounds like Mark should “resign to spend more time with his family.”

Probably one of those touchy-feely deals where the kid gets mommy’s maiden name in addition to daddy’s surname.

http://www.seattlepi.com/news/crime/article/Udall-s-son-charged-with-burglary-car-break-ins-5251184.php

According to an arrest report, deputies confirmed Fox-Udall broke into several cars and discovered heroin “debris” on a used syringe and a spoon in his possession. Fox-Udall told deputies he had used black tar heroin around 48 hours earlier, according to the report.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Fox-Udall and booked him into the Boulder County Jail on four felony counts of trespassing and one count of felony drug possession.

He later was released on $1,500 bond.

But despite being arrested on the heroin charge, prosecutors on Thursday did not file a drug-possession count against Fox-Udall.

Instead, he was charged with five felony trespassing counts, one felony count of burglary, a misdemeanor count of theft between $50 and $300, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The paraphernalia charge is a petty offense that is not punishable by jail time.

The case is being prosecuted by the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office — which serves Jefferson and Gilpin counties — at the request of Boulder County District Attorney Stan Garnett, who has a personal relationship with the Udall family.

Hey I feel bad for them as people, but as to the MSM they are bigger RATS than the RATS.

It should be a law that the party affiliation be given with any mention of an elected official, just like you have to note the stock symbol with any mention of a publicly traded company.

Now, the job for this guy’s R opponent is how to subtly weave in implications of the son’s crimes to discredit the dad.

Dirty pool you say? Why I’d agree, but turnabout is fair play.

I used to be proud we were better than them, but better ain’t getting the job done.

And I do sincerely wish them well as a family, but the election isn’t about their family.

Wasn’t there a Udall kin that moved to Canada in the 60’s to dodge the draft?

Does that mean he loved his mom and dog, and is he an aspiring rapper too?

Maybe couldn’t even remember how he’d gotten stoned, said he had been on heroin but no heroin was found. (Or did he use it all up?)

It is a sign of an empty life looking for something to be filled with. People want the transcendent very badly, but they shy away from God. Well it could be true that the God that way too many modern Christian churches present is a God of good social morals and little or nothing more. That’s not going to satisfy someone who “hungers and thirsts for righteousness” any more than a photograph of a buffet could feed those who physically hunger and thirst. The sinner has a responsibility, but likewise does his neighbor. The two used to meet in what we knew as private charity, private ministry. Too much of the modern conservative vision has dropped that away, and leaves only the vestige which holds the sinner and nobody else responsible in the picture (lest we look too “liberal”). This state of affairs can, at best, only limp along spiritually. It isn’t God’s ideal. The old slogan of the 60s and 70s about “high on Jesus” died way too quick a death. It was considered irreverent, glib, even worldly. It was also a rare glimpse into wisdom.

“Better” will git-r-done once the “better” is centered around God.

The question in any political contest should be: who is best exalting the Lord.

And if it is the liberal, it is the liberal!

Our modern liberals are often trying to do God-scale things (the latest effort being that of getting good health care to everybody) without God-scale resources.

That won’t work. And to be fair, the GOP hasn’t gone off and explicitly booed God like the Democrats did (although they kind of rescinded it).

But religion and politics are rife with irony. And maybe the GOP isn’t using what they know of God as well as the Democrats are using what they know of God.

Anyhow, if and when larger America agrees that glorifying God is not just a key, but THE key, to goodness, then many, many political problems will resolve themselves. Democrats will cease to be demonic. The GOP will be more godly.

This might or might not take place, but I don’t want it to not happen without having fought for it to happen. Some folks think it not worth the fight. But they might not have even thought of fighting on the battlefield that makes sense, not that of politics but that of evangelism. Faith, not “religion.”

And yeah... to head off an objection possible here... they say no religious test.

But that has to be understood in the original framework of the Constitution. That means you couldn’t require somebody to be a recognized Baptist, or Catholic, or what have you with respect to a “religion” (denomination) to be a servant of the Federal government. However, being godly, even Christian (in a general sense) was openly regarded as a virtue of political candidates and nobody, until modern times, thought to use the “no religious test” verbiage to challenge that idea. Allowing that sense to come back would not violate anything except, possibly, some modern judicial smoke.

It’s nice to see that the son has chosen a more honorable profession than being a democrat politician.
