Obama's soon-to-be released budget proposal for the 2015 fiscal year drops a past offer to trim cost-of-living increases in Social Security, a White House official said on Thursday.
The offer made in last year's budget had been an attempt to gain some Republican support and break through congressional gridlock. Dropping it this year is a sign Democrats are girding for November congressional elections and in no mood to risk supporting proposals that could cost them votes from seniors on Election Day on November 4.

What we need is to force Boehner to resign as Speaker of the House in a very public manner.

I think he's in for the balance of this session of Congress. But we should be making it known to vulnerable Reps [heck, to all Reps] that their future is linked to removing him for the next session. There's already some movement to challenge him. A little push from the gassroots may shy away Reps who otherwise might be inclined to seat him again.
Lying to the GOP works every time. Its like taking candy from a baby.

With all due respect, the rot in the Republican Party is pervasive. There is a deeply embedded culture of defeatism and appeasement. Its not just something than can be fixed with a few replacements here and there. Just my humble opinion.

Your phrase, “shy away Reps” is an excellent one to describe the malaise that plagues the current US House of Representatives.
That is exactly why “shy-away-Reps.” aka, RINOs, cannot EVER be trusted to be anything other than doormat RINOs for Obama.
Hence, we need to attack with extra vigor these sorry “shy-away-Reps.” instead of coddling them.

Considering the sh*t storm generated by a similar proposal for some military pensions can you imagine what a budget that did it to everyone on Social Security would cause? Nobody in Washington has that much spine. The Republicans are probably doing a happy dance that Obama did drop it.
